Our mama foster went to the vet this morning for what was supposed to be a routine spay now that the kittens have been weaned and she's had a chance to recover from motherhood. The vet called a little bit ago to tell me that when they went in they dicovered some pretty advanced cancer that had spread through most of her internal organs with a very grim prognosis. She was already under, for the surgery - they called w/her on the table, so we told them to go ahead and let her go. :tears

I just feel so bad because she had such a crappy life - I mean, she came to us after her original "owners" threw her out when she became pregnant (nevermind that they chose to have an unaltered male and unaltered female cat and were "surprised" they mated) and now this. She had a GREAT life during the time she was with us - but that was such a small part of her life and that just seems so unfair.
