I'm seriously considering homeschooling my DD next school year. She is 7 and will be in 2nd grade. I have a few questions for you ladies if don't mind.

1.) How did you decide homeschooling would better? And has it turned out to be better?

2.)How does one go about homeschooling? Like I'm not sure how to even begin. Do I go talk to her school and tell them I want to homeschool and then they will tell me where I should go, who to contact? I'm just totally lost on how to even begin.

3.) How do you figure what to teach?

4.) What do your kids do for social interaction?

5.) My DD is in speech therapy. How would I continue that? Would I do it, take her to the school, or somewhere else?

6.) Do you have a set schedule everyday for when school is or do you just teach whenever?

Ok. That is all I can think of right now. I'll ask more if I think of anything else. TIA.

1.) How did you decide homeschooling would better? And has it turned out to be better?the schools here are really very bad, many of the families on base who homeschool are doing it here so their kids can just keep up at their grade level

2.)How does one go about homeschooling? Like I'm not sure how to even begin. Do I go talk to her school and tell them I want to homeschool and then they will tell me where I should go, who to contact? I'm just totally lost on how to even begin. the laws are diffrent in each state...www.hslda.org the homeschool defense leauge will tell you your states laws.

3.) How do you figure what to teach? we use a curriculum provider, there are many religious and non-religious

4.) What do your kids do for social interaction? the are in our homeschool support group, church groups, scouting, and sports

5.) My DD is in speech therapy. How would I continue that? Would I do it, take her to the school, or somewhere else? You may be able to continue to use the speech therapist at the school or you can get a refferal from your PCM to a speech therapist in town

6.) Do you have a set schedule everyday for when school is or do you just teach whenever?yes, we have a schedule, but the school day is shorter becuase you aren't teaching 20-30 kids

I know this was over a month ago since this post started, but I just now found it. I was home schooled from 8th grade on. When we were home schooled it was much harder and not many people were doing it. I am 33 now. I started home schooling my oldest last year. She was in kindergarten. I would have answered pretty much the same as amazinggrace. I am also a part of hslda they are a great help. If you have any questions please feel free to pm me anytime.
