View Full Version : Yay!
Caimbrie 04-28-2008, 11:58 PM Tony e-mailed the breeder that we are getting a puppy from today and the guy said that the he believes the female is starting to go into heat :woohoo We put down a small deposit on the litter a couple of weeks ago (the breeder lives 3 hours away and we went to go see his kennel). I'm so excited, the timing is kind of tough because of when I'll be having the baby, but we are really excited about getting this puppy when the litter is ready to go home. I'm all about adopting and I always have.. but after what happened with Miley, we wanted to buy a good healthy dog with papers from a good ethical breeder.
BTW.. we'll be getting a female silver lab (L)
MIKOSWIFEY 04-29-2008, 12:00 AM That's great! Don't you already have like 3 dogs though? :shock Are you allowed to keep getting more on base housing?

Miley had something neurologically wrong and was put down. We have 2 dogs and since my mom is pretty much house bound now I think my little 7lb dog might be going to live with them, so she'll have company during the day.

Aww :sadeyes I missed that. :( Poor Miley.
I bet your mom will love having the dog there. I hope the dog isn't too attached to you guys though, it might kind of depress her to go from a big active family's house to a quieter place. Plus she might miss you and the boys :)

Emmie loves EVERYONE :lol She is the happiest curled up on the couch with someone. We're not sure about having her go live with my mom. I'd miss her a ton and Wyatt is very attached to her. Worst case she lives elsewhere temporarily until we buy a house so we don't have to worry about having 1 over the limit. Even though half the people on my street (literally) have at least 1 if not 3 animals over the limit. The one thing I know for SURE is if Emmie goes ANYWHERE it'll be with my family because I want to know where she is and I want her back. I just love her.
SIMMYBABEZ 04-29-2008, 12:11 AM :D Yay!
I (L) Emmie! I hope your mum enjoys her!
I cant wait to see pics of miss silver lab!!!

Nope but my nanna had a sandy coloured guide dog and she was loyal to the end (died after 15 yrs of service). And my parents have 2 black labs and they're gorgeous!!
I love labs but never seen a silver one!

As puppies they have ice blue eyes and then they turn yellow as adults. They arent very common and they are just so gorgeous

crewchiefwife 04-29-2008, 12:46 AM omg you know whats so crazy i saw a silver lab at the pound once but i didnt know it was a silver lab he was sooo pretty
cricketswife 04-29-2008, 06:53 AM that's awesome you're getting a pup from a breeder! i'm so jealous!
but please tell me the breeder didn't try to pass off the silver as a "rare" color and therefore charge you more.

No, he didn't. He's charging the same for his cream, chocolate and silver. Silvers arent rare but they are much less common :)

when you register it, you have to register it as a chocolate. silver is not a recognized color in labs.
Jennygirl 04-29-2008, 04:30 PM It will be listed on her papers already...breeders pre fill things out, like it can or cant be shown, etc...
Sara, Ill ask my friend the lab breeder shower what she does with hers.
xkrazybaby67x 04-29-2008, 04:31 PM wow!!! can't wait to see a pic once your puppy is born!! congrats :D

Yep, I know :D Charcoal and Silver are registered under chocolate. Well they recognize them as true labs.. but they consider it a variation of chocolate :teehee
Jennygirl 04-29-2008, 04:36 PM You are so ready for this pup!!
Will you go and get new puppy things?
You deserve a star because you have so done your research!

I definitely have :lol I've always wanted a pure bred lab but I have done a lot of research instead of jumping into it. If we're going to pay a decent amount for a puppy from a breeder we're going to know what we're doing :yes
Once we know that the mom IS pregnant and she has the litter we'll get a little collar and tag and get her a few new toys :) We already have a smaller crate to start her off in.
Jennygirl 04-29-2008, 05:12 PM the boys arent going to know what hit them, a new brother and puppy!
Caimbrie 04-29-2008, 05:19 PM the boys arent going to know what hit them, a new brother and puppy!
:lol I know. That's the ONLY thing I'm not thrilled about... the timing.. but oh well. he's the only GOOD breeder around here (and still 3 hours away) who breeds silvers. I don't want to wait 2 more cycles for another litter so we'll make it work :lol
MontanaSweetie 04-29-2008, 05:21 PM :wub I'm very excited for you Sarah!
Caimbrie 04-29-2008, 05:24 PM :wub I'm very excited for you Sarah!
Thanks :D It's almost like I'm waiting for 2 babies :teehee I'm almost as excited about the puppy as I am about the baby :lmao
Caimbrie 04-29-2008, 05:30 PM Oh and Jenny.. The temperment of his dogs is amazing! They were all very calm (well except for 1 male and 1 female chocolate who he says he ONLY sells their puppies as hunting dogs because of the energy).
cricketswife 04-29-2008, 07:34 PM i'm so proud of you :D it's so relieving for someone to actually do all their research! can't wait to see pics!
btw, how did the girls grooming to today?
