But DB has nightmares that wake him up in a sweat, he moves around in the bed a lot, can't initially fall asleep sometimes because he has flash backs, gives commands in his sleep...
Could this be PTSD?

It sounds possible. How long has he been home?

DH does that too for the first month he was back. You can't expect him to go to war multiple times and not have it affect him. This isn't a cause for concern in my opinion.

PTSD is defined by not having the ability to get on with life as normal, and not being able to function in society.. We were told that if you want to know how long it will take them to get back to "normal" take the amount of time they were in combat, and double it.

Here's a website/internet radio show hosted by a military wife
She had a Dr who co-wrote a book on PTSD on her show ..as well as 2 wives sharing their experiences. One wives husband has been home 2 1/2 years and each day is still a struggle.
The episode is from 4/30 as well as a follow up episode from this past wed.

I'm only going to disagree because this was a key symptom in defining my SO's PTSD. This plus the flashbacks he would have on a regular basis while doing his daily job. I always know when he is having a hard night's sleep because he squeezes me so tight for his comfort's sake.
This and depression brought my DB back from Iraq and we are undergoing treatments for him. I would suggest having him see medical personnel for his symptoms. It may be better to evaluate him now rather than waiting for the "suggested" length of time for him to "get back to normal."
