Hi everyone, I have a 2 and a half year old Golden/Lab mix..........last night I was playing with him giving him kisses and he snapped and got me in the face which gave me a surface cut/scratch down my face, it was so fast and shocked the hell out of me. He is a lovely dog, but he has done it once before when I was playing with him..........its not a playful snap either its kind of how he snaps at my other dog if he wants her to know enough is enough..........I am worried about this because if I ever have kids of friends come over, it could happen again. Has anyone ever had this happen? and any ideas what I can do if he does it again? I am not sure if I should punish him or not. I didnt really know what to do at the time.

Any ideas?

Thank you!!

don't get in his face. i know it sounds trite, but it sounds like he doesn't like things near his face.

oh.. and next time he does it SCREAM like it's nobody's business so he knows you hurt him. then ignore him for like 10 minutes.

Yeh I pushed him away and shouted at him and then left him and ignored him. Its just weird, because he is the sweetest dog normally. But like the other post says I need to stay out of his face lol.

i don't mean like yell at him like "bad dog!!" like scream/squeal like he hurt you. that way he feels bad. :)
