So, we were going to move out of our one bedroom apartment here in town to two bedroom apartment in a different apartment complex. Well, when we went to our appointment to sign the lease at the new apartment, they had made a mistake and given it to someone else that morning. So, we went to several other apartments and none of them have two bedrooms available by the end of the month, which is when we have to be out of here. Anyway, hubby talked to his NCOIC and they went over to talk to base housing... and somehow, we got it!! Base housing was not my first pick, but I'm very glad we are able to get it now, because we'll probably be here for the next year, and it's a 3 bedroom 2 bath and there is a very nice playground in the backyard. It will be very nice to have the extra room with our daughter and having a baby on the way!

Also, I have a question... since they altered hubby's orders to include me and my daughter, he keeps saying something about a TLA payment we will get and also that they may move our stuff for us. Anyone know what TLA means? I think that's it anyways.

TLA: Temporary Lodging Allowance-This allowance is paid
OCONUS-Out of the U.S.A
TLE is paid CONUS-In the U.S.A, Its meant to partially reimburse you for cost of meals and lodging when temp. housing is needed.

if you haven't lived on that base before and you were living off base because thier wasn't housing aval. then the military will move you on base and give you a partial moving allowance, should be a couple hundred dollars. Hope that helps. (if you move yourselves a DITTY move they will pay for that too)

It's probably DLA, not TLA. The dislocation allowance would be paid since you've been added to the orders. TLA doesn't apply to your situation.
