View Full Version : My poor puppy!!
redhd21 05-09-2008, 01:59 AM My dog is 8 years old (not really a puppy, but he has always been my puppy) Anyway, he has had cancer for the last few years. When they diagnosed him with cancer, we were told that it was inoperable, and highly aggressive. They gave him about six months to live, well, he lived about a year and a half PAST that six months.
Yesterday I got the call during school that he was not doing well, so they had taken him to the vet. He got x-rays, and the doctor said a large tumor was blocking his abilities to go potty. (his intestines were so squeezed that there was only a small space for stuff to move through). This meant that although he was doing alright now, he would quickly deteriorate as the tumor grew. So, with the doctors' advice, my parents decided to have him put down before he got worse and started to suffer. So I drove back home yesterday to say goodbye, and be there when they did it.
I miss him so much! He was the last dog from my childhood that was still alive. :tears It was SO hard and I am still crying!

We lost our doggie to cancer about 2 weeks after Nora was born. It was so sad. I wish I could give you a real hug!

Aww don't do that. We are all doing enough of it ourselves. :hugs
aheart11 05-09-2008, 10:10 AM As an avid animal lover, it makes me cry so much when any animal dies. :hugehug Just know your puppy isn't suffering anymore.
Kt-did 05-09-2008, 06:18 PM Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I :tears to read this. My heart hurt for you. I am SO SO SO SO sorry. We only have special animals that I think are angels/friends for certain periods of time. Cherish the wonderful memories you have of them. Big hugs to you :hugs

haha... It is kitties that he likes to chase. We would say "get the kitty" and he would run outside looking for a cat to chase! (we had 2 cats and he liked to play with them.) :giggle
redhd21 05-11-2008, 03:42 PM My step mom sent me a picture of my dog in a cute frame so that I could have something to remember him by.
Along with it was a copy of that rainbow bridge thing!
