Does anyone wear a shemagh as a scarf?
I have seen so many celebs and lil hipster kids wearing them.
Not sure what i think.
Is this going to be debate worthy? Hmmm...

I have and will :yes

A bunch of us started doing that when we were at an outdoor festival a few years ago, and you couldn't go in the pits by the stage without getting blinded by dust. Now it's just second nature to have them in your pocket or purse. :shrug I like that there are so many patterns and fabrics to choose form now! :D We were just buying fabric from JoAnn's and making them ourselves.

That's what my husband said.

We do have a bunch he bought over there though. (He also has mandresses but that's another story, never know when you will need to blend in!)

Oh, and I've never seen anyone in America actually wear it as a headdress, just as a scarf.
Mainly coming out of Urban Outfitters :lol

That's so weird to me:rofl All the kids I know who wear them do it more as function than fahsion...sooo not the type to shop at places like that:lol

I guess everything is fair game these days, I know people have credited girls who have never even seen a goth concert with "popularizing" black nail polish. :rolleyes

Hey, someone in one of my classes wore a mandress today, those mandresses may be more useful than you think! :giggle Although, I am pretty sure this particular mandress was a mumu and he decided to overlook the fact that it was made for women... and had shoulder pads...

But as per your original question, nobody around here wears those for style/fashion purposes, but I have seem them when people are doing outdoors activities. :dunno

It's what he calls the traditional clothes men wear in middle eastern countries. He has quite a few. And he's on his way back there soon.... can't wait to see what else he comes home with. :lol He sent me a hijab and dress but haven't worn that yet. He does love their culture, so I think he feels it's a bit off to wear something from it, without understanding what it is.... in reference to the hipsters! :lol

And I have nothing against Urban Outfitters, have a few cute dresses from their myself... but you know what I mean right Loretta?!

:lmao Shoulder Pads?! That's just wrong!

My hubs says mandresses are quite comfy. He wore it for Halloween once; he was away at training over that holiday and he had it in his gear from being over there... boys.

One of my best friends is Jordanian and she wears them. She is not Muslim so she wears it as a scarf not a headdress. I think they are beautiful, but I'd feel weird wearing one.

I totally do.:yes You see my point too, though, right? It's frustrating when something you've been wearing forever is suddenly the new, trendy thing. It's annoying! I felt the same way when everyone started wearing the punk plaid pants again.
