Ok so I'm trying to think of how to style my hair for homecoming...I'm thinking of putting it on rollers to get soft ringlets and just throwing on a wide headband. You know enhancing the 'fro.

What type of rollers would you use? I KNOW not velcro...but what kind?

I would run a styling creme(NOT gel or anything crunchy) through your hair while it is still wet, then roll big(two inch) sections tightly around sponge rollers. Blow dry and air dry(alternate) until your whole head is dry, then let them down and spray (before finger combing) with a soft hold hairspray like Nexxus or the Pantene touchable stuff.

Then finger comb and go, they will stay all day!
If you are naturally bery curly, you may be able to skip the hairspray, but the curl creme is a MUST because it eliminates the frizzies and the heat plus creme will set the curls.

Good luck!

So sponge rollers?

I would. They have a lot of give to them...so the tighter you wind, the tighter the curl...they won't fry you out like hot rollers would, either, or get stuck like velcro. :yes

Ooooohhhhhhh I have been wanting to try something like this with my hair. I only have 2 products right now:
- Redken guts which is a volume spray foam
- Catwalk by TIGI Fashionista Smooth and Shine which is heat and iron safe.
Would any of these work for the styling creme or should I invest in something else?

This is exciting!! :D

I personally love this stuff, but it's pricey:

This one is a lot cheaper, only about $9 at Target or WalMart

A little goes a long way(use it like a leave-in conditioner, while your hair is still damp)so don't let the price freak you, the bottle will last!

I'm going to post a pic of my hair to give yall an idea of the texture. It's supercurly and prone to dryness.

If you really want that springy look with dry, thick hair-you'll really need to go with a thicker cream(pricier, but worth it's weight in gold).

Sorry they're so bad. They're from like.....December. About two months after I cut off all my relaxed ends and went completely natural. It's about twice the length now. When I blow dry it and flat iron it, (which I don't want to do again-I'm really trying to not alter the texture of my hair permanently; I had to wash and deep condition TWICE to get the naps back) it's down to the base of my neck in the back getting shorter to my bangs which are cheekbone level. (When I cut out the relaxer the stylists didn't cut out the layers:arg)

ETA: One is before dying and the other one is during the dye job. Sorry they're so big!

I think you should definitely give the Miss Jessie's stuff a try, it's pretty much a miracle in a jar:yes I have seen a lot of girls go from puff to sleek in a matter of minutes at work.

Can you braid?

Hmm I would use the miss jessies curly buttercreme. and set my hair on the pink perm rods (girl I know you know what I mean :P ) and do really tight curls with like a wide headband or scarf.

You could do a braidout and then rock the BAA.

lol im natural too but I have to much of my mamas hair to ever get a BAA my hair is even straight in some parts so im thinking about sisterlocks.

Good luck girl are you going to do a trail run before the big day?

Oh hells yes. If my hair is looking a hot mess homecoming day I will FREAK!

Please tell me why I have pink perm rods at my mom's from when I used to rock box braids?!? :P haha!

(I could rock them now but they're expensive to get done and my mom doesn't have the time to do them for free anymore. Not to mention Drew's whole "real" thing.)

I'm thinking tight Shirley Temple style curls with a wide headband. Kind of a defined BAA. Product normally goes best in my hair when it's wet so I think I'll wash and condition it and then put some ms. jessie's in it. Then put it on curlers and see where it goes. I'm not sure I want to put the perm rods in my hair though. I'm afraid to get some of my hair caught in them.

CarlyJean you and Lori should totally come to VA and do my hair! :D I have ice cream!!!! :wink You know you wanna.....
