My husband's eyes almost popped out of his head when he watched that part.

You have to wonder this kid's history, how he's been raised. I would have never DREAMED of stealing my mom or dad's cars.

He needs serious help NOT a spanking. He is already violent so spanking him would not do anything except reinforce his view that if you are bigger then someone you can hit them to get them to do what you want. He already feels you can hit someone to make them see things your way.

He needs therapy and the family needs family therapy.

Clearly!

grandma says she wants to beat his ass.. but what is grandma doing making him do things like THAT?!

its funny as hell.. what he said.. how he reacted to it.. but horribly SAD.

Eh, don't want to turn this in to a spanking/not spanking debate!

We got a wooden spoon to the bottom when we were lil every now and then, and we never stole cars our punched our grandma for chicken wings. All I can say.

I don't think spankings are his problem, I'm guessing his environment. What 7 yr old says I wanted to do hoodrat stuff?!

No you misunderstood had he been disciplined from a young age be that spankings or what have you he would not be in the shape he is now. NOW it is too late for spankings. Now he would fight back and it would be a domestic dispute. Now the only thing that may save him is intensive therapy with behavior modification, family counseling, and parenting courses for the adults responsible for him.

Gotcha. Apparently the authorities are getting him counseling, but I def hope the involve the family.
Ya know, there are so many kids out there though living in rough environments and will get overlooked because they didn't steal a car and get on the news.

He is a self-proclaimed hoodrat, I did NOT choose that term myself!

Why did he do it?

"Cuz my mom no good."

These are the children who, when they reach middle school, end up in an alternative school like mine. the difference is, this young man's grandmother DOES have a sense of right and wrong, she WANTS to punish him, but she's afraid of being told she can't (she'd "...like to whup his behind right now, if I thought I wouldn't get in trouble....").

Grandma's all this kid's got. Mom, apparently, is no good. she's also apparently out of the picture.

He said his punishment was no video games for a weekend... :wowsers :no

actually what it sounds more like is the interviewer was asking "you don't think you should be punished for all this?" and he said "just a little bit. No video games for a whole week" So I am sure he got more than that hopefully. He was just thinking that is all he should get. :P
