View Full Version : Cool wedding idea, or stupid?
MissOHara 05-20-2008, 12:50 AM ok, I literally JUST thought if this.
First off, my wedding is going to be at my grandma's house. It's huge. On our property we have a "carriage house" which is actually a kind of....a townhouse. It's more like a bachelor pad because it has a small kitchen and one bedroom. I want to use all the room we have so I was thinking....
what if we have a "bachelor pad" with gambling, video games, ping-pong (there is a ping-pong table in there) and stuff like that?
I mean I JUST NOW thought of it so obviously it isn't developed and I haven't thought of the downsides.
Input?

All I know is... My DB would love it, and no one would ever see him the rest of the wedding unless they went into the "bachelor-pad."
Lizim1981 05-20-2008, 12:54 AM The only problem I see with this is all the ladies are gonna be pissed off b/c there will be no one to dance with.

That's what I was thinking, like I said, DB would disappear, and I would be forced to slow dance with myself!

yep....sounds good but you might end up kindly tapping your DH on the shoulder for a dance:giggle
sandykay 05-20-2008, 01:02 AM Maybe if there are kids at the wedding, have it as a kids room, ask a teeager to keep and eye on them (you may want to give a little money to say thanks), but it will keep the kids occupied, the parents happy they don't have to look after them, and the bachelor pad used.

:agree Alternatively if you are having a rehearsal dinner or party before the wedding offering the option for the guys after/during the party!? :dunno
MissOHara 05-20-2008, 01:38 AM yeah....
I was think of not allowing alcohol inside, and telling the caterers to stay out, that way the people inside would be encouraged to come out for substance. lol.
It's a good idea to make it the kids room. BUT traditionally (for the past 60 years) the kids room has been the "attic" (aka the 3rd floor) because it has the toys, and a school room. Maybe it is too far removed from the gardens, but they love it up there, and I think the kids who have been to G-Unit-Funk's house before would go up there anyway.
Keep the attic or make the bachelor pad the kid pad?
missyanne24 05-20-2008, 12:55 PM I would make the kids room as close to it w/o actually BEING in it because parents are going to check on their kids at some point. (At least, I know I would...even if there was someone watching 'em, I would still check on 'em).
swimchick 05-20-2008, 06:41 PM I would say a kid's room would be better, just becuase I know my DB would ditch me in a second... he's addicted more to videogames than anything else...
goldilockz 05-20-2008, 06:44 PM I say it's your wedding! You do what YOU want :yes
Rebekah 05-20-2008, 11:38 PM It's a neat idea but maybe not for a wedding. :dunno I could see problems with that. lol
MissOHara 05-21-2008, 12:59 AM I mentioned it to DF and he flipped! He loves it. I told him "no food or drinks inside!" and he was "ok, no food or drinks that you know of!"
I shouldn't have mentioned it. I think we might try to make it work. I think one of my g-ma's nurses might be living there so it might not work out, but OMG does DF want it to!
*MedicsHeart* 05-21-2008, 01:49 AM i think that would be really cool :thumbsup
LindsayLin 05-21-2008, 03:55 AM Kids room!

Just remember that after the wedding he is no longer a bachelor... he is a husband. I think the "bachelor pad" is a good idea for the bachelor party, but the wedding is a celebration of your two together. There are going to be tons of things pulling you away from each other all night, why add one more thing? Spend as much time with him because it goes all too fast!!
We just got married 3 weeks ago! :)

I agree with either of these ideas but I would say don't use it for anything the adults will want to hang out in or you'll be pulling guys out by their ties to get back into the festivities of the wedding.
Jenabugg 05-21-2008, 07:15 AM Thats an awesome idea and I am all for it, but I was looking on the knot.com.. or some bridal mag. and it said not do to something like that because then the men wouldnt be at the wedding at all.. haha.. which if u think about it is kinda true.. but I like the idea just saw somewhere that it wasnt a good idea!
future_army_wife 05-24-2008, 10:19 PM will if your gonna have a bacholar pad then you should have some kind on bacholrette pad too, just so the woman dont feel left out
Skamakazi 05-25-2008, 01:34 PM i think that sounds fabulous. but then again im having fire breathers at mine. im a tad extreme. lol. (L)
Shannon Marie 05-25-2008, 09:10 PM The only problem I see with this is all the ladies are gonna be pissed off b/c there will be no one to dance with.
:yes
I wouldn't want to "seperate" people you know? It is more fun with everyone. Not just guys with guys and gals with gals.
Cassaundra 05-25-2008, 09:17 PM yeah i am not digging the bachelor pad idea. your wedding day is about you and your dh celebrating your union. If you think you can celebrate together with video games ,then go for it but i honestly think it will backfire. I say use it for the kids playhouse during the wedding if you use it for anything at all.
MrsDarland 05-27-2008, 01:53 PM i think the guys would definately appreciate this
