It is 82 degrees in my house and the thermostat is set on 74. The vents are blowing cold air and we were told before we have the right amount of insulation. Any idea why my house isn't cool? Maybe we need more insulation, but could there be more to it?

Are your doors and windows sealed well. Are your curtains open with the sun coming in?

Yea they are...The only place the heat really comes in from the windows are the kids rooms, but they are cooler than the living room.

my house is like that. i let it get too hot inside before turning the air on. now it will take forever to cool off. I have all the ceiling fans on as well as the plug in fan. It just takes some time

It's on all day. It is on 74 at night and during the day, but during the day rather than stay cool, the house just gets hot. The thermostat says it is 85 in here at the moment. It goes up as the day goes on. It will cool down around 9 pm :grumpy

if your house sits in the path of the sun ( or the windows hit them 90% of the day) it will be hotter. Our front living room gets HOT because the sun mainly sits there all day, even with curtains it just heats up in there. bad part I pay for my AC so i try not to have it on all day.

I put in a service call with our home warranty company so hopefully they will be out tomorrow. I can hope and pray that they think the unit needs to be replaced, but I doubt it would happen. It's really on it's last leg. My dad thinks it could be the freon.

I was going to say the freon, may need to be recharged.
Our last house had several problems like that.
