Some people were asking how to word it. Here is exactly what my looks like.
Please review the requests of our birth plan in the spirit of cooperation and celebration in which they are intended. We know the safety and well-being of our baby is of prime concern to all
1. LABOR
• Minimal EFM
• Allow to eat & drink as much as I want
• No episiotomy
• Minimal intervention with care provider, i.e. IV’s and vaginal exams
• No counting
• Self-directed pushing
• Allow to move & Change positions
• Shower/tub if possible
• Allow to go to the bathroom
• Allow to use a labor ball
2. DELIVERY
• Skin to skin contact
• Immediate nursing
• Wait until cord stops pulsing before cutting
• No eye ointment
• No Vitamin K shot
• No HEP B shot
• Allow an hour before any procedures
• NO SEPARATION AFTER BIRTH FOR A FULL HOUR
- Allow father to be with baby at all times if baby needs to leave the room
Please know that our strong feelings on this issue do not relate to the concerns regarding the care of our baby by the medical staff. Rather, they reflect our belief in the critical time of parental bonding, nursing on demand and skin to skin touching our baby needs especially his or her first day of life.
