My hair is naturally really, really oily.
Does anyone know of a way to keep my hair looking fresh all day long?

Now it is even to the point that I MUST wash my hair everyday, every one I know always says, "well just wash your hair everyother day or something"... Now if I do that, the second day my hair looks like I washed it with oil, I still tried it, just put my hair up the second day. I did it for like a month, and no improvement.
I know that using a conditioner is important, but If it do, my hair looks nasty before I get half way through my day.
I am at a loss. Maybe a new shampoo?

Yea, I have used baby powder in my hair, I might try the flour. Thanks!!
Baby powder works for a little while, if you only use a little and brush it thought.

Baby powder works. If you sprinkle a little into your hands and then just run it through your hair from the scalp to the ends, it'll help get that greasy look out.

I'd also talk to your hair stylist or the beauty salon and ask them to point out a better shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes, it's just the shampoo/conditioner that is the reason for the extreme oil-I've had the issue too and I just changed my shampoo and it got a lot better.

I found this for home remedies, I'm not sure if they work, but it's worth a shot:

Home Remedy Treatments for Oily Hair
Although oily hair might be troublesome, it is relatively easy to control with the following home remedies. Follow these simple steps, and you'll be on the way to the hair you've always wanted.

Shampoo often. Don't worry about overdoing it. If you have oily hair, shampooing every day is a good idea.

Use a "no-nonsense" shampoo. Often, shampoos have all kinds of additives and conditioners in them. People with oily hair need a good solvent-type shampoo, one that will cut the grease. To give your shampoo a boost, you can even add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. If you don't like the idea of putting dishwashing liquid on your head, there are plenty of commercial shampoos that will cut through the excess oil, including old standbys such as Prell and Suave and any number of generic and store-brand shampoos. Normal hair needs a shampoo with a pH (which refers to its acid/base balance) between 4.5 and 6.7, but oily hair requires a more alkaline (or base) product. Look for shampoos with a pH higher than 6.7 -- or, simply, those labeled for use on oily hair.

Rinse thoroughly. Whatever shampoo you use, be sure you rinse thoroughly. Soap residue will only collect dirt and oil more quickly.

Forget conditioners. Conditioners coat the hair, something oily hair doesn't need. Apply a small amount of conditioner only to the ends if they've become dried out.

Don't brush your hair too much. Forget 100 strokes. Every time you drag that brush through your hair, you're pulling oil out of the scalp and distributing it throughout your hair.

Try an acidic rinse. One way to decrease the oil is to rinse with diluted vinegar or lemon juice after shampooing. Add two tablespoons white vinegar to one cup water, or mix the juice of one lemon (strained) with one cup water. Rinse the mixture through your hair, then rinse your hair with warm water.

Home Remedies from the Cupboard

Alcohol. Any kind of alcoholic beverage has a nice drying effect. The higher the alcohol content the better. Mix a shot glass full of alcohol with a couple cups of water and rinse through your hair. Yes, you have to rinse it out. And don't drink the rinse water!

Cider vinegar. Soak your hair in a small basin of water with 1/4 cup cider vinegar -- or put the concoction in a spray bottle and rinse through your hair, then wash out with warm water. This helps control nasty shampoo buildup.

Tea. Rinse your hair in diluted tea. Tea contains tannic acid, an astringent, which can cut the oil.

Home Remedies from the Refrigerator

Beer. Beer can have a drying effect, and it cleans right down to your scalp, leaving your hair with a healthy shine.

Lemon juice. Mix the equivalent of the juice from 1 lemon with 1 cup water and rinse through your hair, then rinse with warm water. Lemon juice can help control shampoo buildup, too.

Now you've got plenty of fun home remedies for oily hair to try at home. Figure out what's best for you, and enjoy the soft, silky results!

I have tried many many many shampoos. They work for about a week, after that it just looks oily all the time idk whats going on.
And I did talk to my hair stylist, and the stuff she told me to use did not help out much...

Use the Burt's Bees shampoo. Anything with sodium laureth sulfate(the stuff that makes bubbles) in it will cause more grease.

A cotton ball soaked in Listerine applied to your scalp will ease both oil and dandruff.

Use a root lifter that contains alcohol(they all do) and blow dry on cool setting.

Do NOT run your fingers through your hair/play with it/brush it more than absolutely necessary. This will only spread the oil through your hair and make it worse. Stick with wide toothed combs and hard bristled brushes.

Use all-natural conditioners(mayonaise works great) and keep it only on your ends.

I agree with all of Loretta's suggestions :yes. I have really oily hair too and I ALWAYS wash my hair every day, no way can I go 2 days. I use a shampoo for oily hair or a clarifying shampoo and while I do use conditioner, I only use it on the ends to prevent frizzies, I never put it on the roots.

I agree with all the above except the bolded two. Some root lifters can make hair look even more oily than it already is. Most actually, in my experience. And while mayo is a good conditioner, it stinks to holy hell, yes, even if you wash it out.
Honestly, you need to just shampoo it every day. What kind of shampoo are you using? Make sure it is one with tea tree oil in it, they are the best to prevent the oil. Use conditioner on your ends and not your roots, and if you don't need a heavy conditioner, don't use one. Avoid spray in products, conditioners, hair spray, etc...

I wasn't telling her to use products, I was saying that if she already uses one, to switch to a lifter with alcohol in it. I totally should have clarified that:arg Good point!:yes

Stinky or not, everyone needs conditioner...and the chemicals and filler-oils in the cheap stuff are way worse than the smell of mayo, IMO. :shrug

I found an AMAZING product.. It's hair powder made by Bumble and Bumble. It comes in different colors, blond, brown, silver, blond... You put it on your roots, and it absorbs oil.. It's also scented..

See thats what I do, there is an herbal essence shampoo that totally cleanses, forgot what it was called, but my hair finally feels oil free with it and I use conditioner on the tips but like three hours later its oily.
