I need to steam clean the carpet to see if it can be saved. If not we're going to pick out new carpet. I also need new outlet/switch covers and closet door knobs. Then I will be able to put the furniture in it. :D

Around the edges are like black from the previous owners probably never vacuuming or cleaning in there. There was piles of stuff in that room with MANY layers of dust. It was disgusting. My DH vacuumed the crap out of it and some of it came up but its still dark with dirt. I'm gonna go over with with my steam cleaning and pray it all comes out. I might try to scrub it by hand too. I dont feel comfortable putting my baby in a room with nasty carpet.

Ahh...like I said pictures can be decieving(sp):teehee Might I suggest renting a steam cleaner, our nursery had some really nasty stains on the carpet because they dog peed on the floor and then DH got the wise idea to clean it with vinegar and stained the whole carpet yellow and it was hard as a rock. We rented one from ACE last weekend and it worked VERY well. We also own our own steam cleaner and it wouldnt even touch the stains or the smell. Maybe ours is just a piece of crap:lmao

I love the walls. As for the carpet don't even try to save it you don't want that in their with the baby if it was as bad as you say. I would rip it out anf replace it with a snap together wood floor http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/hi_kitchens/article/0,2037,DIY_13925_5742795,00.html It is better for the baby then carpeting is.
