View Full Version : Do you have a shiny sink??
amandalaine 05-25-2008, 01:07 AM So...I became a member of the FlyLady group tonight! Those that know about it, should know what I am talking about with my sink. I haven't read all the info yet, but it seems like it will be a program that will help get and keep my home organized and clean. She has 31 babysteps to start with, and number one is to go to bed with a clean and empty sink for a month. Basically once you get in the habit, it won't stop, and having it clean helps motivate you to move to other areas. Check it out...www.flylady.com.
sandykay 05-25-2008, 01:09 AM I have the worst sink ever, it always stains and it's hard to get them off. DH hasn't emptied the dishwasher yet, so I can't stack it.
cceribit 05-25-2008, 01:10 AM Always do. Can't go to bed with ANYTHING in the sink.. big no no. Best way to get a shiney sink, tinfoil ball and vinegar gets all the stains out!!
aelsass 05-25-2008, 01:11 AM lol I try and leave it clean every night but its by no means shiny

Aunt Sponge 05-25-2008, 01:25 AM OOOH, nice post!!
Yes - indeed my sink is clean and very shiny.
I've had to start keeping the kitchen quite clean since the ants moved in. LOL

Just started doing it again a few weeks ago, but my mother did it years ago when it first started and the entire house did it as well. It worked really well for us and was hard at first to get in the habits, but it's easy now to do 15 minute flings, etc
flangl18 05-25-2008, 11:12 AM I always have dishes loaded into the dishwasher and sink cleaned out before I watch anything on tv for the night (after dinner) or do anything else, as well as scrub it out. Takes me all of 5 minutes. I also make sure the counters and stove are wiped down. It just is so much more relaxing to come in to a clean kitchen in the morning.
toxicpuree 05-25-2008, 03:31 PM i think i need that :giggle
I_Love_my_marine 05-25-2008, 05:15 PM I love it, USMC Issued turned me on to it. It has helped me soooo much! I always have my sink clean, it drives me crazy if it is not now! :giggle I have been doing it for a year now. It is pretty easy to keep my house clean when it is done a little at a time! I give it two :tu :tu !!!!
Shaky 05-25-2008, 05:27 PM I can't go to bed if there are dirty dishes in my sink. I try to keep it as clean as possible.
That looks like a wonderful website! Anything to keep your motivation going :)
wcchick712 05-25-2008, 05:29 PM My husband forgets we own a dishwasher, and always puts dishes in it that i later put in the dish washer. because that 1-foot to the right, and a pull motion to open the dishwasher are too much for him to handle.
brandewijn 05-26-2008, 03:55 AM Heck yes. I was clueless with cleaning when I was a new wife. My mother was so OCD I never cleaned a thing. She didn't like it. I also didn't know how to cook noodles. :hehe I found FlyLady and well let's just say I have come a LONGGGGGGG way. I have one of her books as well.
