Browneyed Beauty's thread got me to thinking - what IS an appropriate outfit for homecoming? I have NO idea what to wear - I, personally, am not comfortable showing a lot of skin.

If any of you have been through homecomings, what did you all wear?

Something casual... A sun dress would work great.

whatever you are comfortable in, I like a nice dress, but really he'll just want you to be you :)

My only general rule against dresses @ Navy homecomings is well piers can be kinda windy.... then if your surface I have heard the wind is worse on the decks then on the pier (which I have seen from where I work...I am working on a Navy owned ship ATM and the wind tries to steal my flipping hard hat from me daily) and then if your subs well those ladders suck if you r in a dress....

Oh yeah my one piece of advice is comfortable shoes! You'll more then likely end up standing around...for a long time. You dont wanna have a gimp when u run up to see him.

Whatever you're comfortable in. Let him lead the way.

I've worn everything from Jeans to a lace tea length dress that showed a whole lot of cleavage. I think it's whatever you're comfortable in because you might be waiting a while.

Whatever YOU are comfortable in is what you wear. After all it is for your man not anyone else.

I agree with whatever you feel comfortable in. Last homecoming, ds and I wore matching welcome home tshirts w/ jeans. I got a dress for this homecoming, just a simple sundress, with flip flops. I'll likely be freezing my ass of but it's what I want to wear! :)

well last time around I went and bought a really cute dress. only when it came time to wear it iw as just to cold to step outside in a dress so i ended up wearing a dark pair of jeans and a cute top. I'd say just be comfortableand remember what time of year it is, if you got little kids that still pull on your shirts keep that in mind haha. I saw a lady there that was wearing a cute low cut halter top but um her boobs pretty much kept popping out cause of her toddler pulling on it. then it wasn't so cute anymore. I mean i'm sure her SO didn't mind when he got to her haha. that's really all the help i got for you. I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine. good luck

I like to get dressed up, because that day is a HUGE deal to me! I don't care if everyone doesn't dress up as much. I think you should wear whatever you feel best in, so you are most comfortable and happy that day. You don't need any added stress due to an outfit you don't feel right in.
I do think it should be somewhat tasteful, don't roll up in your hoochie gear.

i agree with the other ladies...whatever you are comfortable in. i've seen everything from sweats/pjs to someone wearing a trench coat (and i SWEAR that was about all she was wearing). in the past i've usually done nice jeans or khakis and a nice top. i did a sundress once because i found one that i loved and i had also won first kiss so i wanted to look extra nice. for the next one, i promised DH i would wear a dress so i found a nice one that's super comfortable.

I wore a pretty flowy sundress from Bebe to Avery's homecoming. Honestly, I felt a little bit over dressed. I think this time when they guys go home, I'm going to go with a simple, knee length dress. I kind of want it to be one solid color and then just do up my hair and make up.

I think the tench coat with just a bra, cute panties, garter belt, & stockings is VERY sexy and I so do not have the confidence to pull it off.

The first one I wore jeans with a sexy black top and this last one I wore jeans with a tshirt and cashmere sweater. His homecoming was at midnight and I had just put four anxious children to bed and it was pouring rain and I had just finished moving our entire household into a new home that day so I really only gave half a shit what I looked like. He was still happy to see me!!

I'm not a dressy person so I'm gonna go with jeans, cute wedges, and a cream colored pea coat (if I can find one I like). I say whatever you feel comfy in!
