Okay, so I am not sure exactly when I started doing this, but sometime in the last couple of months I began tracking how many coffee filters I have to get through until it is time to see DH again.

Every morning I get up and make coffee, so every time I pulll a filter from the stack I know it means one filter closer to him being home. It gives me a sense of satisfaction every morning. There are fifty in a stack and I just recently started a new one, so I know when I get to the end of this one I will be pretty close to seeing him again!

I know, it's kind of random, but it helps me to see that time really is passing, and that I am one day closer to being with him again.

Do you find yourself counting anything kind of strange like that?

Have we already discussed where abouts in Germany you are? I know there are a couple of ladies on here that I have asked, but I can't remember if I asked you yet... I'm in Wiesbaden. Are you German? I'm American...just moved here to be with my SO that just got back from Iraq.

Anyway...I'm so glad to know I'm not the only crazy girl that does stuff like this!! I would count EVERYTHING. Literally. Our deployment got cut short for medical reasons but when I had my original homecoming date I would even say "Okay, I just cut my dogs hair so by the time I have to groom her for the 5th time, he'll be home." Retarded? YES! But it helped me get through. I'd count vacations, I'd count paychecks at work...everything. He loved it because I related everything in my life to the next time I would see him. :D

I totally have started doing that but I count down by how many cotton balls I use.I use one every morning to put my astrigent on my face. Each bag I but has 200 in them I have gone through 2 bags and just bought a new bag last week. He has been gone 419days and I didnt use any when I saw him for R&R so it worked out perfectly since he will be home in less than 2 weeks.

I would count paydays, and towards the end I bought a box with 30 little boxes of cereal in it, and DD and I would eat one for breakfast every day, and when the cereal was done, DH was home.

I don't count anything, I just don't have the attention span for it. I figure I'll see him when I see him. Besides, I've never had a firm coming home date before. Last time I got the call he was coming home about 6 hours before hand.

I don't count really anything, except new months. My best friend lives about 4 hours from me, but on the first of the month she throws me little celebrations, even if it's just chatting online, or sending me a card, to make me feel good about making it through another month. She's the best. :)

We count how many paydays are left. A friend of mine counts it by how many times she's gotten her hair trimmed (she goes ever six weeks like clockwork).

I've counted how many bottles of vitamins I'll go through, how many books I'll read if I read at least once a month, how many oil changes I'll get, how many Victoria's Secret semi annual sales I'll go to.. basically I've been reduced to counting whatever I can to make the time seem shorter than it actually is (ten months).

I just started counting weeks. I figured the number was less daunting than days and easier to get through than months. Maybe I'll start counting periods too! That was friggin hilarious! :roflmao

I don't count anything.

Does that count?

lol i have a calender on my desk at work, one in the drawer at work, one on the computer at work, one hanging on the fridge at home, one on the computer at home, one on the bedroom mirror, and then the one on my phone. I have to X each one out every day, and theni flip ahead to see how many more boxes i have left. I also am using my DD as a count down. I know she will be 1 year 12 days old when he returns, so every day i tell her how old she is. Today she is 9 months 3weeks and 3 days old. Lets see i count pay checks his and mine, i count periods (so your not alone on that one).... i think im just nuts and i count EVERYTHING.:hehe

I send a package every week, so I look forward to that day. Then I count down how many more packages to send (estimated).

Devaness that's brilliant. I might just make a stack of one hundred and however many coffee filters until my dh gets home :lol

Incase you didn't notice, I count paydays.

Irrelevant to deployment, I count steps. Wierd, but I do. Usually when I'm going up stairs I count them. I know, I'm odd.
