Hi guys,
I guess I just need to blow off steam, but it has to do with boot camp, so I thought I'd post it here. (if it is in the wrong place, mods may move it)
DB has been gone in OSUT training at Ft Benning since May 8. He started basic on the 16th. A lot of my friends (who I made after he started- their guys started the same day too) have already gotten their guy's addresses. I figure they're in a different company than him- since they also got to call when the big "incident" happened.
I wait and I wait by the mailbox every day, and always nothing. I also keep in close contact with his parents and grandparents, so if they got something, I'd know. When I come home from work everyday, I always ask if I got any mail. It has gotten so accustomed that as soon as I get in the door, my grandmother will say "nothing in the mail, today" instead of hello!
Argh!! I have almost 30 letters waiting to be sent, but they can't be sent because I don't have the freaking address! And I know that the first 3 weeks of boot-camp is the hardest, and most trying for them, and I want to write him uplifting supporting letters to let him know that he is loved back home.
okay, and on a positive note though, I heard from him the day after he started basic training. It was a 30 second phone-call to tell me he loved me, and that he probably wouldn't talk to me for about 3 weeks, if not longer.
So I am grateful for that. I wish you could record phone conversations. I miss hearing his voice.
And I am staying busy, but I get my hopes up every day when I come home, just maybe. I am learning patience, and the good old military motto "hurry up and wait" doesn't just apply to it's soldiers!
Okay, I'm done. Thanks for listening/reading.
Girls who have survived BCT/OSUT at benning, how long did it take you to get an address from your guy?
