It has only been a month and a week since I saw my husband last, but I miss him terribly. Is it normal to loose sleep and have your appetite change while they are gone, and does it get easier. He's in the Navy (not sure if that part matters). I write him everyday, and I try to keep myself busy with school and with friends and family, but the nights are almost unbearable. Does it stay that way through the whole Navy wife experience?

My dh has finished basic and almost done with AIT (mos training) and I am still not sleeping. I tease him all the time and say that when I finally get him home, I might sleep for days. I dont know if it gets easier but you will learn to bear it a little better. Letters are what kept me going. But thats a HUGE accomplishment...one month down!!!

My DB is in basic right now too and I find it so much harder for me to sleep with him not here, so it's not just you. I think all of us go through that at some point or another. :hug My DB has been gone almost as long so I understand. Hang in there, because you're almost through this part!

It gets somewhat easier... for me, it always gets a little better for a few days then something happens like I see something that reminds me of him even more and it gets bad again for a few days. It is all up and down... just keep busy and keep writing him and one day soon you will realize that you are about to leave to go to his graduation!!

Yes hun it is completely normal!
I lost 20lbs when DF was in basic and I've managed to keep it off since then, more than likely because he's still gone. I don't fall asleep so easily anymore. Not until I hear DF's voice..he's in AIT so he has his cell and he calls me the minute he wakes up in the morning to basically put me to bed, lol. He's in Maryland and I'm stuck in Cali...so we're 3 hours apart and I usually get a call around 2am my time and 5 am his time. It's hard. I feel perfectly fine after that...but it's the same routine once I wake up again. Missing them isn't easy, and it puts stress on you but you just have to stay strong...not only for yourself but for your SO too. I hope you start feeling better and more at ease!

You're normal! My husband is gone right now for NTC, and I am having so much trouble sleeping. I think part of it is because I'm getting to a stage in my pregnancy where insomnia is very common, but I know that part of it is because I miss him so much. Every time he goes away for training, even if it's just a week long exercise 30 minutes away, my sleep schedule gets messed up, as does my appetite. It has never gotten any easier for me, but I have gotten more used to it. I have found ways to keep myself busier (some of them like horseback riding I can't do now since I can't lift my leg high enough to get on a horse with this belly). I hope that you start feeling better, and if you ever need to talk feel free to PM me.
