View Full Version : walking and talking..
Chelly 05-25-2006, 07:50 PM is it true that you can't walk and talk on your cellphones when you're in uniform?
my friend's husband told her that (he's on the same ship as my hubby) and i was wondering if that's true or something he said to her..
my husband hasn't mentioned anything like that so i was wondering...:shrug
eta: they're in new york right now for fleet week~so maybe it's only a rule in ports?
CoffeeGirl 05-25-2006, 07:51 PM Its true on this base dh said
VinnysGirl 05-25-2006, 07:52 PM true for my hubby! was the same way at A-school too!!
April 05-25-2006, 07:55 PM TRUE!!
Chelly 05-25-2006, 07:56 PM okay.. thanks girls!!.. i just thought he was telling her a line (he's been known to do that sometimes) but it just sounded a little bit funny to me..
def true. john always has to stand still to talk to me @ work :lol
I just asked my DH and he said True, he also added they can't smoke and walk at same time either in uniform.
harrisonsdream 05-25-2006, 10:03 PM df used to walk around base (while he was in A-school) while he was on his cell and no one ever said anything to him. hmmm it must be a new rule.
KDMatthews 05-25-2006, 10:10 PM oh def true
Breezy 05-25-2006, 10:46 PM I agree it must be new
seen folks doing it here and smoking too.I will have to ask dh in the morning
Ellen 05-25-2006, 10:59 PM in the Marines you can't drink (you know - a soda) and walk at the same time in uniform
Chelly 05-25-2006, 11:10 PM in the Marines you can't drink (you know - a soda) and walk at the same time in uniform
that's so weird.. they all can't be THAT clumsy..or can they?! lol
deewix 05-25-2006, 11:12 PM Not something new, apparently it has been a rule since cell phone's became so popular. My hubby say's at least 3 1/2 years. As far as he knows, it only apply's to the Navy and not the other services.
True true true... I have a friend who gets off the phone between the pier and the car... then calls back :giggle
Ellen 05-25-2006, 11:16 PM that's so weird.. they all can't be THAT clumsy..or can they?! lol
touche'
harrisonsdream 05-26-2006, 06:27 AM df was in A-school last june-december and he could but i guess it was because he would only walk from the door of his BEQ to the table/bench thing they had near it and sit down or in a circle trying to get reception. i dunno. is it for everyone or just our boys in uniform?
BLBnJVB3 05-26-2006, 09:08 AM Yep. It's true here.
NewBeginnings 05-26-2006, 09:12 AM Its true HOWEVER I think on hubby's base it depends which uniform he is in, If he is in dress whites he can't do it. If he's standing gate guard by the ship they don't care if he's on it(he's in his utilities when he stands gate guard) just as long as he puts it down when he has to check someone's ID.
harrisonsdream 05-26-2006, 04:27 PM maybe that was true for df too, if he's not in uniform then he can...
black_kittie 05-26-2006, 04:38 PM its true on my hubby's base
Amber V 05-26-2006, 04:41 PM in the Marines you can't drink (you know - a soda) and walk at the same time in uniform
That is also a rule in the Navy.
I think some of the rules maybe get over looked but all of what I have read about cell phones and drinks I have heard of more than once.
I don't know what A school your df was at but the BEQ's here at Great Lakes are suppose to be stern on that. I know at the BEQ dh is at, he will tear them a new asshole if they think they can walk off the QD and talk on the phone. You are not allowed to be walking around the base and talking on a phone for safety reasons
ETA: you can't drive and talk on a cell phone either on base
They do it all the time here LOL.. I have seen guys on peirs smoking and walking while in their uniforms. Never heard of not being able to drink and walk while in uniform but then again I am not on base that much and I am not in the military so it doesn't concern me...
It is illegal to drive on any base while talking on a cell phone. But most idiots still do it..
Crystal 05-29-2006, 04:53 PM Here at Camp Lejeune there is no talking on cell/smoking while walking. The rule has been around for at least 5 years. Jack said the no cell phone/walking has been around for as long as he can remember. Here if a military member is in civi's on base and have a hat on and walking into a building they have to remove their hats. I have seen many a person get in trouble for this also.
