I've heard on another board about the Navy phasing out or changing the sea/shore rotation. Also about people getting deployed to other countries for their "shore duty" (which I think is the crappiest thing).

Anyone heard anything about this or have any idea what's going on? I'm particularly interested in any changes to/phasing out of shore duty-shore duty is one of the reasons DH has stayed in the Navy (and a reason he joined the Navy as opposed to another branch). If they're going to take away or screw us over on shore duty from now on, I don't know that we'll be willing to stay in. Also kind of sounds like the Navy is kind of keeping this a little quiet (although I guess the deploying during shore duty has been in the Navy Times a couple of times)-I think there are going to be a lot of upset people....

not all sea and shore duty is going to be affected. only current bases and so forth. just to let you all know.
