The heat, more so.
We're having cooling issues (as always) this summer and I'm considering the need for some heavy-duty, thick curtain on all the windows.

If I block out every bit of sunlight will it help keep the AC inside and the hot sunshine outside? Enough of a difference so it's worth the effort? (I'd make my own, of course)

I have some for the one window in the house that seems to get the most sun and they work wonderfully for cutting down the heat.

Wal-mart sells black out curtains. I want to get some for a few windows in our house. For heat and early morning light.

Ok - so worth the money, yes?
Like they might even cut energy costs all year around?

yes they are meant to cut heat as well. Right now anything would be an improvement over what we have in the living room. lol I felt them they are heavy and have a special lining. I would say go for it try it out and see if they work for you. :)

I think they are totally worth the money. It certainly has cut the heat down in that room a lot but be forewarned, they do make the room DARK.

I think the ones they sell at walmart are called "eclipse" or they have a picture of an eclipse on the package. I haven't tried them but I heard they're really good.
