The shorter the deployment, the more frequently they go, generally. 7 months gets no R&R not sure about the other lengths, it may depend on a variety of factors. armyfiancee 05-31-2008, 02:34 PM umm.. its for this girl i know.. im married to a sailor lol.. he is on deployment but..... He did mention at some point that he could volunteer to stay an extra seven months, but I threatened to cut very important parts of his body off if he did. :teehee JohnsAmanda 05-31-2008, 02:49 PM It depends :( My friends husband was deployed for 13 months and got R&R (He was gone all of 07) but my husband is going to be gone 12 months and isn't getting R&R because he's in charge of that whole operation over there. The only time I wish he WASN'T so good at his job! And I believe that they can get extended to 18 but don't start out at 18 months. Also, just because deployments are shorter doesn't mean they're more frequent.
