when something terrible happens? i can't talk about it, because of opsec, but DB is okay, but something happened, im fighting back tears trying to be strong for him and trying to think of what to say but all that comes out is im sorry and i love you..
please just pray:pray for all the troops tonight girls..this war has just become so much more real to me.. db is no longer on a "business trip" like i like pretending.. :depressed

Awww, I'm so sorry girl. I don't know what you can tell him but he probably just needs to know you there. I'm sure you said the right things. :hugs

:agree I Love You is the most important thing you can say.
Doing something to cheer him up without telling him that's why you're doing it can tell him you're there for him. Something that is important to him. I sent DH some DVD's to watch and wrote a note to go with each DVD (196 notes later....) and mailed it to him. That way he could always "hear" my voice anytime he needed to. It really helped after we had some "incidents" happen and communication was very limited and tight lipped.
Other than that--change the subject. Tell him about home, how you went to the grocery store, how you went to the mall, what book you read, what you're learning in school, etc. It can help them feel connected to home again which can help their hearts heal.

Having somone to listen to you and tell you that they love you. When things get hard and go bad on deployment what you doing for him is priceless. From a guys point of view without knowing detail I think you are doing a great thing for him.
