I have had steaks out for 8 days now, do you think they are okay to cook or should I toss them? They were frozen prior to being thawed...

TIA!

Okay, okay. :depressed I usually don't keep meat out that long, but forgot about them defrosting in the outside fridge. They are Porterhouses, so I am just sad to say throw away that much money! :duh

Thanks ladies!

Throw 'em out!!!

You have to use ANYthing you've defrosted in a matter of 2 days, 3 days TOPS.

I would hate to throw them out too, but better that then get really sick.

I used to be a professional cook, never keep more than 2 days after it is thawed.if you want to keep longer marinate in olive oil and some vegetable oil.You can also add some fresh herbs to it with fresh garlic.

More than 2 days = toss, for sure. I am SO overly paranoid due to food poisoning a few times :sick

I am sooooo paranoid about food poisoning too! I agree, throw them suckers OUT! Throwing them out is way better than throwing them UP!

I bought meat today from the commissary and it says use or freeze by the 12th... How does that work then?!
