After speaking with a deployed soldier ( who happens to be the love of my life) :D who is currently serving in Afghanistan and hearing stories about the village children and there poverty, I have decided to try to help them out. I am collecting new and gently used soccer, basket, and volley balls to send to these children. The children in these villages have to pay for school, if they can not afford school ( and most of them can’t) they are forced to
labor for endless hours in the blistering heat. They are missing out on simple childhood games, balls are almost impossible to come by. I am collecting the balls to send to the children and have the soldiers distribute and collecting any money to pay for shipping of these balls.

What a great idea! Good luck - I'd donate but I don't have any balls... I just realized how bad that sounded....

Great idea - unfortunately postage from New Zealand is sooooooooo expensive, otherwise I'd help (I sent a deflated rugby ball to an American friend in Iraq last year and it cost me nearly $20.00 in postage!!!!). I'm sure the children will really appreciate your efforts - thanks for sharing.
