Has anyone ordered cake through the Bake Me a Wish website?

Their cakes look delicious, and I'm debating ordering one to ship out to DB for his birthday.

What were your experiences and is the price worth it??

I don't know anything :dunno do you think they keep that long 18 days to ship from the us to overseas for example? are they food saved and/or on dry ice or what's the deal?! :giggle

I checked into dry ice............and it wont stay cool but for maybe 3 or 4 days I think the dry ice evaporates and turns into a gas after awhile. My SO's 40th is going to be on the ship to.........so I would like to know more about this subject myself. I asked about getting a cake baked on the ship for him, but I dont think that's going to be possible :(

I think it works both ways. I think they donate cakes to send to soldiers, but if you want one for someone specific who is deployed, you have to pay for it (including the $25 shipping to keep it fresh).

I had an idea.............because looking at the website its expensive like probably 50 buck in all. What about making a massive birthday cookie? and ice it with what you want to say? I might do that. and then zip lock it with the reynolds vacuumed sealer. (at walmart for 6ish bucks)

I just got DB one he said it traveled well and it was really rich and good. He was impressed that I got him a cake in the desert at all. A little expensive but worth it for the smile on his face!!

Yeh I send cookies all the time..........just use the reynolds things. The last box took about 2 and a half weeks and the cookies were good :)

do you remember which flavor you chose? theres just so many its hard to pick which one :lol

I got one that was like a blonde brownie. It was really dense and rich DB said. He's in N Iraq and it only take about a week to get mail but they mail them 2 weeks out so he got it a week early. He just put in the fridge like it said to do and it kept the extra week just fine. I think the ones they ship are more like giant brownies (very dense) than cake but he said it was yummy and honestly he was just so happy that i found a way to get him a cake (all wrapped up nice and fancy) I got one of those "you are most amazing woman how do you do it?" emails that always make me feel like a million bucks....i love that man!!!
