Have you ever had your make-up applied professionally? I would love to have a session. As I'm getting older :sigh my skin is totally changing and my old "beauty" habits, I think, just make me look old & tired.

So...if you've ever had your make up professionally "done", where did you go and how much $$$ was it?

Thanks.

well, ive only had mine done once and it was by a MAC artist. Theyre very trendy and bold with their looks, but know how to tone it down if thats what you want. I had it done for my wedding, it was...$75, but she also came to me, i didnt have it done in the store.
I would suggest Clinique or Estee Lauder. A lot of times theyll give you a makeover and try to sell you something, but you're not obligated to buy.

MAC is good :yes They will listen to what you want and give you tips on how to apply it. It's expensive to buy their make up, but I LOVE MAC make up.

My sis is a MAC make up artist. Or was... I think she has since moved on. She was for years and years.

I have had my make up done for my mom's wedding and for prom at the salon I used to go to to get my hair done and I have had my make up done (for free) at the clinique counter for my wedding :)

I don't know how much it cost at the salon because my mommy paid for me :D

I just want to point out, MAC isn't generally advised for women who are aging because it tends to dry up on you(it stays on forever, even on oily faces...so imagine what that does to older, dryer skin). Estee Lauder Double Wear is a REALLY good one for women 40+. It's hydrating, smooth, and really stays for a long time.

That's JMO and what I've heard/seen working and from MUA's. No one take it personally! :hide

I have had it done at MAC too. I didn't use to care for any of the foundation they had, but they came out with the Mineralize line which is their minerals makeup. I LOVE it. Highly recommend it.

Oh they will do it free in the stores usually. I think it depends on how busy they are. They did mine free anyway.

Use to go with my Aunt back home J. It was at the mall Lancome counter. She's older too (in her 50's) but is beautiful in her own right. She purposely uses Lancome b/c it's for olderwomen. Anyhow they use to have this session. You had to pay. I have no idea, she always paid (treated) if I went than we had lunch out (girl date). They did the whole 9 yards, skin treatment, makeup, etc. It was fun. Maybe 75-100 dollars.

By the way you could go to Lancome (counter in the mall) and get a free mini makeup over for free and try out samples.

I remember when Aunt Maggie and I went it was done by professional makeup artists.
It was SOOO impressive last time I went years ago I told the girl she should be working on the Hollywood, CA movie set lots. :wink

But be careful too b/c I remember my Aunt spending $350 dollars on makeup that day too :rofl

If you rae looking for a new "look"

You dont have to schedule an appointment
one of my favorite things to do when I go to the mall is go up to the make up counters at Macy's and tell them I'm looking for a new foundation/ eye shadow/ whatever
and they start showing me what they have.
The do all the application and you can decide what you like and you can learn new techniques for application....

Macy's = (L)

I have had professional make-up done several times...wedding, pageants, bridal portraits, etc. Anyways, I always use prescriptives (it's in dillard's). They do it for free but I always end up purchasing something after it's done. They always do a tremendous job!!!

There is a spa near where I live and they have a professional do your makeup and teach you how to do it. He charges $45.

OP

See, that's what I need - someone to show me what looks good, teach me how to do it (not just once, but every time) and tell me what brands and types work best in the heat, with my chemistry, etc etc etc.
