In 2010 (I think) they are supposed to be moving 10,000 Marines and their families from Japan to here. Glad we will be gone for that! ;) At this point, I am not sure the island's infrastructure can handle it!

:wow That is huge!! That's what they say about here, too. My hubby is doing his residency at the Naval hospital here (will be completed in 2010) and is dreading the increase! Just watch, they'll probably send us to Guam (which doesn't sound too bad now) :cp

So your DH is a doc? Mine is a corpsman :) He spent his first 3 years at Camp Lejeune.

Guam really isn't terrible. If you can handle not having every store available to shop at, if you like hot weather, and you like the beach, you would probably enjoy it here :)

Not there anymore, but we were stationed there in 05! I (L) Guam, wish I could go back! We did see one brown tree snake our first week there, right in our driveway! :eek But never saw another one after that.

Honestly....I hate it here!!! I can not wait to leave. This Friday will be our one year mark, and we have two more to go. Boy, let me tell you I am not looking forward to those two years!

I'm ready to go too and we've only been here since Jan. lol!

The ONLY thing I like about Guam is the ocean. We like to snorkel, and my hubby loves to fish.

Wow! You guys didn't make it as long as I did. I made it to 1.5 years before I was ready to leave. I loved it until then! After 2.5 years here, all the little annoyances are REALLY starting to get to me!

I hate that it costs so much money to get out of here, and for my family to come here to visit. Hubby & I both work, so space A isn't an option for us right now. I hate that there is no good shopping here other then Macy's. Finally...I hate that so many people outside of the fence are rude, and hate us just b/c we are military.

I am off to the gym ladies. I shall return in a bit!

Hey ladies, I am here too! (hi Callie!) I am up at andersen, I actually LOVE it here! I hate hate hated it for the first 6months! But now I really do love it. For me I had to finally get off my butt and do something! I met a lot more people, got involved in a few things and got around the island more! I love to snorkle, and I am about to get dive certified, so that is helping the time go by. We have a 4 year tour here, so I have to do something! We have been here almost a year now, I think a 2 year tour here would be fabulous, 4 is a but long! We have AWESOME neighbors that thankfully will be here the same about of time, so I really think that makes all the difference! I shop online a lot, and I love Ross( if you go in the mornings on tuesday or wednesday it really isn't that crowded!)
I hope you all can find fun things to do, because this place gets smaller and smaller the more you don't like it! Believe me, been there! Talk to you all soon!

I totally agree with you about the two year tour thing!!!!!! I've said that myself, many times. I shop online a TON...probably spend TOO much money...LOL.

How do you like Andersen? We have been up there a handful of times. How is the housing there?

I like it up here! I can't wait for the new Bx to open though! Then we wont have to drive to the NEX! save a bit on gas! I love our house, we got realllllly lucky, we got a 3 bedroom, and there is only 2 of us! We were going to live off base, until we saw the house the offered us, we new we wouldn't get this kind of space off base, and it's cute! (not the outside though! lol)
ITs funny how Big Navy and Andersen really are only 20 or so miles apart, yet it seems soo much farther!

I heard about the new BX! Somehow, I did not see the construction when we were up there a few weeks ago!

That is cool that you got a 3 bedroom! We got lucky and got a 4 even though we only have 2 kids. It's a good thing we did, because we are short on space as it is...LOL.

It is funny how you get about driving here. I am from the Denver area and it would take me 20min to get to work everyday. Here, it feels like driving to the hospital is far ;) I think things would be better here if they upped the friggen speed limits! 35mph is rediculous in a lot of places.

I can't believe I missed this :) I was born in Pueblo and raised in Northglenn! The majority of both of our families are still there :) Where in Westminster did you live????

lol I was born in Kansas, but we moved to Northglenn when I was 1. lol I went to Federal heights elementary! Then we moved to Westminster ( near 80th and sheridan) when I was in 3rd grade! I went to Ranum High (yuck!) But I grew up in a church in Northglenn, so I knew a bunch of people there. I ice skated at Hyland hills ice arena, and then at the promanade! and worked there! lol

As I mentioned, I was born in Pueblo. We moved to the Denver area when I was 3 or so. I went to Northglenn High School ...graduated in 1996. I lived around 112th & Irma Dr for most of my life :) My big thing was soccer!
