View Full Version : Ft. Leonard Wood Graduation
Steph 06-03-2008, 01:56 PM My hubby graduates BCT in 16 days. His DS doesn't give much info. I haven't got a graduation packet in the mail yet either. Will I be able to see him at the orientation thing? Will he be able to get a weekend pass? His AIT is at FTL but it's not OSUT. Someone told me that if he does get a weekend pass he'll have to wear his uniform while off base. Is this true?
Katrina628 06-03-2008, 02:02 PM I'm no help, but my husbands best friend is graduating from there this week. I would think you should have already gotten info about the graduation. My hubby is at Ft. Jackson and I got my grad packet info about 3 weeks after he left home.
Wish I could be more help.
Steph 06-03-2008, 02:14 PM The only info I've got is from the internet. I know more than he does. But I still can't find the details. Thanks for your input.
Loretta 06-03-2008, 02:17 PM My husband graduated from there.
If he has been in NO trouble whatsoever at all sicne day one, he will get an overnight the day before family day. You will need to book a hotel down there NOW(they may already be filled up) because they aren't allowed to go as far away as Springfield or other bigger towns.
After grad, it's straight on to a bus for AIT. I think I saw DH long enough to hug him after his grad but that was it. The DS was immediately yelling ot grab his bags and off they went.
The overnight pass was SO worth it. I really, really hope your hubs gets one!
FC wifey 06-03-2008, 02:23 PM My Ex DB graduated from there, and we had the whole weekend together. Yes, he did have to wear his uniform all weekend. Now that I think about it, I don't know if I would really call it a weekend, but most of... Good luck getting info and congrats!

that should help a bit....i'd write more but im doin this one handed im holdin dd....lol
:edit dh didnt get a weekend pass...family day was the day of grad and he shipped to ait the next day.
Loretta 06-03-2008, 03:08 PM Yeah he will only get the overnight if he was exceptionally good. I think 20 guys got one when DH did, out of 400 something that graduated that weekend.
If he is going ot AIT, expect very little time after grad.
Yes, they will be in Class B's all weekend, so no PDA or anything like that. Save it for the hotel. :wink
Steph 06-03-2008, 07:05 PM Thanks everyone! I already booked the hotel weeks ago. My kids & I are making a mini vacation of the trip. My Mom is coming too. We booked 2 rooms just in case he does get a pass. Either way I can't wait to see him!:cp
Steph 06-05-2008, 09:45 PM Update! My DH sent me the graduation info to day! Only 14 days left to the big day!:D

my DF is at ft. leonard wood for training at the moment too. DF is a marine tho.
RnS1112 06-05-2008, 11:32 PM DB is there now, he was fortunate enough to do boot and AIT in the same place, so for him, they didnt have a graduation after boot. They are combining their boot graduation with their AIT graduation, so he gets to come home after. We did get a weekend in between though, well 2 days. But a very helpful break for the halfway mark!!
kellsies_mom 06-07-2008, 08:09 AM I know that when I graduated boot camp in Lenorad Wood I got to see my mom the day of graduation, and I got to spend some time with her afterwards. I didnt get an overnight pass. and the next day I left for AIT. Now, that was 4 yrs ago and alot has changed since. I know that it does depend on the company if they get overnight passes or not.
