Ok so on Monday David my oldest DS (5 1/2) had his first visit with the developmental peds and it went well I think. We were there for over an hour with the doctor and it was a productive meeting. He evaluated David and said that the first doctor (our PCM) was definitely right about David having ADHD and that his behaviors were NOT being control or even touched with his meds...so they upped his dosage to 27MG and also he gave us a referral to a psychologist that could see him BEFORE November. YEAH:cp He also believes that David has an Anxiety disorder which he wants to evaluate further in July after the ADHD symptoms have some sort of control with the new meds. They want to continue to watch him for an ODD diagnosis at the present..he doesn''t want to jump the gun on that, but they are concerned with it.

I know this doesn't sounds like much but it is good to know that I am not alone in thinking that something has been "off" with David for a long time. I feel like a stress has been lifted off of my shoulders knowing that he is receiving the care and attention he deserves. I am really an ANTI medicating mom but seeing the difference in David and how he can focus and how HE notices the changes in his behavior is all worthwhile. I am still REALLY cautious with these meds and still on my guard...but so far I feel like we may have had a break through...now to figure out these Aggressive and Angry outbursts of behavior...that is also for the next visit in July!! Please pray for us.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the relief. Now you know for sure and can start actually working on the situation, finding things that work for him and such. I'm so glad for you. I know it is hard at the same time, but just keep your chin up!

my son has ODD, anxiety and a possible mood disorder. He is currently in a temporary treatment center awaiting residential treatment in TX. You definitly need to get into a psycologist asap. Its been a long and grueling process. It started with a psyschologist and then he wound up going to Childrens in Seattle and there he was diagnosed, and then he came home and has been seeing his regular therapists and his behaviors just kept escalating and he wasnt on meds. With ODD they will want you to try all of these different behavior modifications first which we have worked really hard on and they weren't doing much good. Monday night he had a severe episode and it landed him in a another treatment center and he'll be there til he leaves for residential treatment in tx.He is still not on any daily meds but they do have things to give him to calm him down if he blows up and gets out of control. I dont know how severe your childs case is, but I know how hard ODD is and that mixed with anxiety is a nightmare.
