I need your help!!

DH and I have decided to fly somewhere space-a this summer, it will most definitely be in Europe but we aren't sure where. We are just going to take the first hop going anywhere and explore from there.

So if you've ever been to Europe please list the must sees in each country you've visited.

Chances are we'll end up in one of these countries.. Italy, Germany, Crete, England, Sicily.... but we will probably take a train (if possible other places). :tu

Thanks a million!

I love Italy!

Its easy to take the train anywhere you want to go so don't worry about that at all.. My first trip over there I flew into frankfurt, took a bus into Austria and Italy and then the train back up into Paris and then the bus back to frankfurt.

Italy would be so nice in the summer! Ahh Venice would be so pretty! It is my favorite place I have ever been to!!!

Germany:
Castles
Heidelberg
Wine Country (Rudesheim)

England:
Lots of things in London including:
Queens Opera House
Tower of London
Westminster Abbey
Windsor Castle
Buckingham Palace & Gardens (to say you have seen it)
Harrod's (another just to say you have gone)

Romania:
Sinaia
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)

France: Paris....
Notre Dam (duh....but take the Bell Tower tour to be up close and personal with the Gargoyles. It's amazing!)
Eiffel Tour
Arc de Triumph (Make sure to go up allllllll the flights of stairs to the top. It's worth it!)
Versailles (a must)
I've never done it but I heard there are really cool catacombs worth taking a stroll through.

Greece
If you can...do an island hop for a week. Santorinia, Mykonos, and Crete are all very popular and beautiful.
Athens is fullllll of history too. It could take months to see all that Greece has to offer.

Italy
Venice
A tuscan vineyard
Sicily (eat pizza!)
Amalfi Coast is supposed to be just gorgeous

I've only been to London, Paris, Geneva in Switzerland, Romania, and Germany (where we are currently stationed) so all the other places are things and cities on my travel to-do list. Have fun planning. PM me if you need help researching! When it comes to world travels, I love it!

Well, I've obviously got the Sicily info. You can drive in any direction here at all and run into something amazing! If it really looks like you will be headed to Sicily, let me know and I can give details.

Just know that traveling here is not cheap, trains can take fooooorever... I have bought flights within Italy for cheaper than train tickets actually, with Blu-Express. Oh, and if you plan on renting a car, make sure whatever countries you may go to don't require an international driver's license.

And since you are flying Space-A to Europe and back in summer, be prepared to get stuck for awhile! Happens a lot here, since everyone that lives here is using it to get back to the States for summer visits.

I live in Northern Italy and I love it, but I absolutely fell in Love with Germany. The people are so much more friendly. I love going to all the castles. Dh and I went down the Rhine river and it was so awesome. Heidleburg was pretty cool too, but very touristy. We like to go to some of the less traveled places. Good luck. If you are in Northern Italy (near venice) let me know. I live like 45 mins from there!

A good way to travel around is to get a Euro Rail pass http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/multiple_country_index.htm
Its also very cheap to travel around Europe flying with www.ryanair.com
You can prebook your flights and fly from country to country for between $50 and $100 per flight.
I love the castles in Germany and France. The history in Rome ,Italy.
Granada ,Rhonda and Barcelona in Spain , if you go to the south of Spain you can also take a ferry to Morrocco for the day.

What city do you fly out of when you are flying on Blu-Express?

Also, EasyJet and RyanAir are extremely cheap and offer flights all over Europe.

I have lived in Switzerland, Scotland and Germany. Been to a number of places around europe.
The easier travel in Switzerland is to take the train but you can also rent a car to move around. But I recommend the train because it's more convenient. There are numerous places to travel around Switzerland. It depends what areas interest you. The Matterhorn is a must in Switzerland. And ofcourse Lake Geneva is also important. Geneva and Lausanne and Montreux are realy nice places to visit. Luzern, Zurich and Bern are some nice places to visit too. It also depends on the season you travel.

As for Scotland. You can take one of those cheap flights from london to either Edinburg or Glasgow. In Edinburgh, you can take the Haggis tour which last 3 days 2 nights where they take you on a tour around the Highlands like Loch Lomond.

London is a great too. You should get those hop on hop off bus ticket for a day that takes you around the london city. It will take you to all the great sites and area. Madame Tussaud is pricey but it's worth the price. And ofcourse the palace. Make sure you are there during the changing of the guards. It's a great thing to watch.

Paris is wonderful but expensive. We did a lot of walking but we also got a train ticket for a day to travel around the city with the metro. The louvre Museum, the Notredame, Moulin Rouge, the Eiffel Tower. We even went to Pere lachaise cemetary to see dead people's grave...yeah we are morbid but it was interesting to see.

Germany is where I live and they have some nice places. Berlin, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Rudesheim, Rothenburg, Garmisch, Munich. If you go to Garmisch, you can stay at the Edelweiss Hotel which belongs to the military. And next door is Austria which is a nice place to go to.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And like mimismiley say, check out rail pass. Some trips you can take the train but some you should take the plane because it's faster and cheaper.

Italy is heaven! Santa Maria del Fiore (the Cathedral in Florence) is probably one of my absolute favorite places I have ever been in my life. The Amalfi coast is beautiful and then of course there is all the stuff to do in Rome! I am a complete & total art & architecture nerd though so I won't go on and on for three pages about what to go see- if you wanna know just PM me & I can give you the list! :lol
