Is that normal for newborns?? It seems like hes hungry almost every hour. I am trying to go 2-3 hours in between feedings but he just seems so humgry. I am pretty sure that I am producing enough milk cause I can squeez a good amount out.

ANY ADVICE???

some babies just eat a lot or it could be gas. with madison i would mistake gas with her being hungry. she would want to suck but she'd be really wriggly and fussy. sometimes they just want to suck and not actually eat.

if he is eating really well every hour then maybe he just needs to eat a lot but if he's not eating really well, just more sucking then it could be gas or just wanting to suck.

I had to stop breastfeeding my first because he would stay latched on all day :hehe

If you can wait it out then after hes about 1 month old his eating habits will change drastically.

Also, if you are really wondering how much he is really eating, then pump and bottle feed it to him. You dont have to do this every time but it will give you an idea of how much he is eating at a feeding.

Babies usually do not overeat. He is helping to establish your supply so I would feed him when he wants it instead of waiting 2-3 hours. Plus they tend to eat more once they hit up a growth spurt etc. The first 6 weeks are the hardest of breastfeeding. I did have a low supply but we found that at by his poopy diapers.

Breast milk also digests faster than formula, so he will eat a lot more. It might take him a few weeks to get used to everything and get on some sort of a routine.

he was born a big baby so he will more then likely be a big eater. teegan was at that age. he might just be going through a grwth spurt. i would say if he is hungry feed him!

Yes, it's normal. He is trying to establish his milk supply and it will slow down. He was a very big baby, so do expect him to eat more often in the beginning. I used to nap while Aiden would eat because he ate all the time and it was tiring. The first 6 weeks AT LEAST are on-demand feeding for breast fed babies. AFTER the 6 week point you can start to try to get him to go on a "feeding schedule". He may start to do it on his own though. I wouldn't really push the schedule until 3 months though for eating. JMO. HTH :) Good Luck!
