If you are STILL ACTIVE DUTY, do they cover books as well? Or is it only tuition?

TIA!

Is it true that the GI Bill transfers to dependants?

Just tuition. We get DHs books used online though so it isn't as costly.

Thanks Ellen! :hi

Jarheadsarehot: In rare cases. If the spouse or parent was badly injured or killed while in service. On a regular case/basis though? No.

There is a program that the Army is doing though, and the spouse can get part of the GI Bill, but it has be certain rates (MOS's I think it is in the Army), and they have to reenlist for a certain amount of time, and I *think* it might be a part of the bonus too. You can find more info in the stickies at the top of the "School and Work" forum.

In the funding bill that congress is working on right now so we can all get paid next month, there is a clause in it about creating a program to be able to transfer some of the benefits to dependents. :xfingers That it goes through!

Yeah, I have been keeping a close eye on that! :beg I HOPE it goes through! It would potentially save us $30K for me to finish my bachelors, since my hubby barely needs much of his and we would be paying out of pocket otherwise! :td
