I've applied to FASFA and what I can tell everything is approved. This was back in March. I'm set to attend grad school as of Monday and i've heard nothing from their financial aid office. I don't know if the loan is automatically taken out for you or what. Last time for undergrad I remember a bunch of paperwork. :arg I'm so confused. I'm scared i'll get a bill for the whole semester and have no student loan to pay it with.

anyone know much about this?:dunno

Have you tried to contact the financial aid office of the school. That is the best way to make sure everything is set up, also a lot of schools allow you to check your status online.

i emailed them earlier this week and got nothing. i'll call tomorrow on lunch. i work the same hours they are open and it is hard to get away for personal calls.

You will definitely have to sign documents (MPN at the very least). Is it at the school you got your four year degree?

ETA: Did you fill out the 07-08? That's what most schools, unless they are accelerated, use for summer session, not the 08-09, that usually starts in the fall.

do they have a web site you can check? Yeah, calling them might be the only way, I ride the FA office to make sure everything is set up.

Yeah, that's the FAFSA, which is separate from the school-it's a federal aid program. So you haven't signed anything with the actual school yet? Then I would definitely give them a call. They should have some kind of deferment program, but you will more than likely need to sign that too. :)

My daughter will be starting grad/professional school in Alafreakinbama in August, and her loans for school won't actually be available until the week she reports in for Orientation. That puts a bit of a crimp in her plans to secure housing (can't be on-campus), because she really doesn't have a bunch of money lying around to cover first/last/deposit..... and the First National Bank of Mom and Dad is foundering a bit right now, so we can't help. She ended up taking out a small private loan, associated with her financial aid stuff but separate from them, so she could have some cash on hand to cover her moving-in and start-up costs.

If you don't already have housing lined up, you might want to look into something like this.
