View Full Version : The Baby Borrowers
jhlyon51906 06-20-2008, 10:33 PM Ok, what are the thoughts on this show? I personally will watch, but from being a young and unmarried (at the time) parent, it's difficult. I could never put my child in the hands of two teenagers that I didn't know and had no experience with infants. What about newborns? That's even more difficult, feedings ever hour or two, up half the night, etc. I mean, what if somebody got really mad and shook the child? By the time the cameraman drops the camera and gets the child, serious damage has already been done. I know it would probably not happen, but what if??? Way too many what if's. Did anyone else see the preview on NBC's site of the girl dragging the kid across the couch, into the floor, and across it only to take off a dirty diaper and put on a new without even cleaning off the poop? I would be soooo pissed.
PeppermintRei 06-20-2008, 10:34 PM :wow What is this show? I almost never watch tv so I've never heard of it.
Victoria 06-20-2008, 10:40 PM I can't wait for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jhlyon51906 06-20-2008, 10:43 PM Pretty much, ppl hand over their kids to strangers(teenagers who think they are ready for children) in a monitored household and let them take care of their children for like 3 days. It starts off with infants, then toddlers, other teenagers, and finally senior citizens. They must take complete care of them. Granted, the parents/relatives can watch 24/7 on closed circuit tv, but still.

Gillian_Angela 06-20-2008, 10:44 PM I guess there are some people who will hand their children over to make a few bucks.
NOT ME. Although I will say there was this Romanian woman in PBK the other day and she was like "Will you hold my child for a moment please?"
And I was like "what?"
Gillian_Angela 06-20-2008, 10:45 PM I can't wait for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW!
I want to see it really bad. :giggle
USCGBoxerMom 06-20-2008, 10:47 PM If it's done the right way SOOO many teens would not want children!!! I think it's a good "idea" but not necessarily with that one girl Morgan....she is not the crunchiest pickle in the barrel if you KWIM.
PeppermintRei 06-20-2008, 10:49 PM :wow That's kinda scary. I might have to watch it if it's on on demand and I have nothing else to do. It makes me cringe in that "It's a train wreck and I can't look away" way. I'll probably be too busy, but I'm sure you all will tell me all about it! :lol

:agree :tu Working in a daycare did that for me! Nothing like paranoia to make you avidly use BC!
The one kid that calls the kid an "it" (Watching the previews online)...called a baby an "it"? Is that normal teen behavior? :wow

YEPPERS!!! Going out with a good girlfriend of mine and her 3 kids under 4, plus my Ethan makes me remember to take my birth control pill every single night!!

Working at Pottery Barn Kids is making me realize I want to enjoy not being a mommy just yet.
When I see all these toddlers at Sing-Along screaming and freaking out, jumping on beds and throwing crayons around...oh it's major birth control for me.
Green~Mammy 06-20-2008, 11:14 PM Yeah I am not going to let perfect strangers have my kids just to make some money.
Lindsey 06-20-2008, 11:17 PM i think they have nannies in the wings
OMG it's Andrea! 06-20-2008, 11:18 PM when does it premiere?
andreacc 06-20-2008, 11:21 PM I can't wait to laugh at the kids. Im kinda sadistic in this way..

either that or mom and dad are right there watching everything happen...it's not like they're 100% all alone with these kids.
Navgirl 06-21-2008, 05:47 AM Hmm, never heard of it. It will probably be shown on AFN in like 6 months.
Victoria 06-22-2008, 05:19 PM There are video cameras in the home, so mom & dad can watch everything.....the parents are even across the street too, and can chime in whenever the parents don't agree with what the teenagers are doing.
