train cats to know which little box is their's?
I have two cats. Had one litter box forever. I just got the second cat like 2 months ago (it's my mom's cat, her name is Baby).
Baby has been pooping on my kitchen counter (3x) and carpet (2x). So I bought a litter box tonight to be her own, hoping that will help. How do I make Chloe know that it isn't for her? And make Baby know that it IS for her?
TIA/

Lock the kitty in with the litter box so she knows it's there. I know it seems mean and she will cry but it works.

Even if both litter boxes are in the garage?
I will definitely lock her in there though. I try to do that at night. It's so hot during the day in there that I feel guilty leaving her in there while I'm at work.

hmmmm...if they are both in the same location that makes it a bit harder. She may have territory problems with the other cat and still not use it because it is in the same room.

That makes perfect sense. Dang it. I will have to figure something out. There's not really anywhere else to put besides the kitchen and I don't wanna do that for obvious reasons.
Baby hasn't gone on the counter in a week, and not on the floor in 3 days. She's doing better. But I will still put her in the garage tonight anyways.
It's just hard cause then Chloe can't get in there so she bugs the helllll outta me :lol And I don't like to lock Chloe in there cause I don't want her to feel punished since she didn't do anything wrong.
