Hey everyone, I just stumbled across this site and thought I would give it a shot. My name is Stephanie. Ali and I have been dating for a year now, and have not been together for longer than 14 days at a time. He is stationed in Pearl Harbor, and we have recently made the decision for me to move out there. What I don't understand is how could we have made it through a deployment and 11 months apart and now, 5 months before I move, its starting to get harder and harder. When I say harder, I mean I am missing him more than ever. I went to visit him in May, and they worked him the entire time I was there. What do I do in the mean time to ease missing him? I know it won't go away, but just minimize it. I am moving 4000 miles away to be with him and we haven't spent more than two weeks together per visit. Am I crazy? How do I prepare when I have to watch he deploy a few weeks after I get there? Should I try and go sooner? There is no doubt that our love isn't strong. We have been through a lot. There are just concerns. Any advice from the veterans?

:welcome It's up to you what you think is best. Deep down you know the answer to your question. Personally, I would probably move sooner.

:heythere I'm Ali an Army girlfriend. You're not insane - lots of us haven't spent much time with our loved ones (some haven't met yet, like me!!) - deployments aren't easy, keep yourself busy is so important. You may find it better to move sooner and spend time together - but you'll know what's best when you weigh up all your options. Take care.

Hello, it's ok. I carry his picture with me all time because I'm worried that I will forget what he looks like.

Thank you all for the welcomes. So far I do like it here. It is comforting knowing I am not the only one feeling this way. Is there anyone here that is currently in Hawaii due to Navy that could offer me some advice on what to do when I get there?
