i was able to get squeezed in to an already booked schedule today at the vet. i'm so greatful!

he's got a bacterial infection where they shaved. so they gave him an antibiotic shot and some medication for me to give him. my vet is so awesome though--he only charged me for the medication. and seeing as an office visit fee is already $35, and i don't even want to know what the shot cost, it was pretty nice. so it was only $16 for the medicine.

i've also been told that the price i was quoted for his surgery is an excellent price.

so if anyone in the norfolk area would like a good vet recommendation, i've got it! lol

YEAH!!

You know I thought about this after your emails when I was in bed...I remember when they shaved a dog at work and put something in the shaved spots, they had to give her antibiotic creams after they were done...

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo glad that they got you in and buddy is going to be ok!

Glad to know that Buddy is going to be ok. The drainage after shaving was really odd.

ugh, his neck is so gross. i've been keeping it clean, but it still builds up. and it's on the under side, so every time he lays his head down it's get on whatever he's laying on.

i completely forgot to ask the vet, but do you think i could wrap something around it, or should it be exposed to some air?

it was really odd. lol when i called this morning about it, the girl who answered had to go get the tech that was in the room with the dr. on thursday and have her talk to me. she was baffled too and that's why she wanted me to get in asap.

I would think you could use some no stick gauze and vet wrap to loosely wrap it so the puss does not get everywhere. But it will need exposure with air to heal up so maybe at night leave it open while he is sleeping but during the day keep it covered up to keep dirt out and the puss from damaging anything.

I agree it will need air to heal...

It's probably best that it's open to heal... it will help dry it faster!!

Can you lay down some old towels or sheets for him to lay on and encourage him to stay there??? I know that's probably a lot to ask of a Cocker Spaniel! LOL!! They are energetic little guys!

I'm glad he's ok!!

it's not really drying out at all. plus he keeps scratching at it. i think i'll put some vet wrap and guaze on it during the day. we'll see how that goes i guess
