one baby kitten wont latch on and nurse. he seems like he isnt interested but i know he must be hungry!!

Put the kitten up to the nipple and rub vigorously on it's forehead and back this should stimulate the kitten to turn on to nursing, if he makes a little clicking sound that is natural.

If the kitten does not latch and nurse, you need to supplement with some baby kitten milk from the pet store and check with a vet to make sure the kitten is not ill.

all he seems to want to do right now is sleep, so i guess ill try again when he's awake.

Honestly, I would be a little worried about a newborn kitten that does not want to suckle and only wants to sleep. You may want to get the kitten milk and a bottle and try to bottle feed him.

UPDATE - kitten was nursing when i walked in a few minutes ago!!

YAY! Sometimes they are just so tired and suckling pulls too much energy! We had to supplement a puppy that my friend's dog had because she just wasn't strong enough... once she was hydrated she nursed with the rest of them! :)
