andreacc 06-21-2008, 02:16 PM Virginia man sheds 80 pounds eating at McDonald's
QUINTON, Va. - A Virginia man lost about 80 pounds in six months by eating nearly every meal at McDonald's. Not Big Macs, french fries and chocolate shakes. Mostly salads, wraps and apple dippers without the caramel sauce.
Chris Coleson tipped the scales at 278 pounds in December. The 5-foot-8 Coleson now weighs 199 pounds and his waist size has dropped from 50 to 36.
The 42-year-old businessman from Quinton says he chose McDonald's because it's convenient.
His inspiration came from his two children and from the story of a blind war veteran who rode a tandem bicycle cross-country.
Coleson says his goal is to get back to the 185 pounds he weighed when he married Tricia Summer. Their 10th anniversary is Saturday.
RunnerLuv 06-21-2008, 02:19 PM Good for him! I would have never thought eating at McD's could result in that much weight loss...
I know he chose it because of convienience... He could have saved money buying the ingredients at preparing those foods himself KWIM? Not much money I suppose because of the prices of produce... but I wonder if he could have prepared the meals even healthier?
But regardless good for him!!
brentscrystal 06-21-2008, 02:22 PM I guess he is the answer to "Super Size Me" :giggle

Maybe cooking at home isn't convenient for him because he works a lot or he works during the meal times like lunch.
Why discount his weight loss because he ate at McDonald's? No one discounts Jared's success.
OMG it's Andrea! 06-21-2008, 02:24 PM I guess he is the answer to "Super Size Me" :giggle
:lol touche!
LindsayLin 06-21-2008, 03:06 PM I saw him on Good Morning America (I think?) the other day. Good for him!
wcchick712 06-21-2008, 03:07 PM That'd be too expensive for me to do! but i should :shurg
andreacc 06-21-2008, 03:09 PM I would think you'd get sick from the same thing every day. The Super Size Me guy got tired of McDonalds every day...Didn't he?

I took convienience into account... and I wasn't discounting his weight loss because it was at McD's... I said good for him. I was just thinking what I would have done since it would get too expensive buying from McD's..

I wanna do a McDonald's diet
=Mrs.AiNokeA= 06-21-2008, 03:21 PM Wow good for him... personally I'd get so sick of eating the same few things everyday. :P
square bear 06-21-2008, 03:24 PM If you're really overweight and you start eating salads and fruit you're going to lose weight regardless of where you eat it at...
Way to go dude! That's a convenient way to diet :) "the drive-thru diet" yay.

:tu
Especially if his family has an easier time managing their metabolism than he does and so don't want to eat low-fat diet foods with him. Instead of buy groceries for two separate sets of meals he picks his up at the drive thru.
ilovekale 06-21-2008, 03:35 PM i'd personally like to try this diet. haha.
crumper07 06-21-2008, 03:47 PM here's a video...I wanted to see what he looked like

browneyedbeauty 06-21-2008, 04:30 PM I think he should have been safer about it as far as calorie count goes but kudos to him.
s. rosa 06-22-2008, 01:54 AM i tell you what - even more than the weight loss, i bet a great result of his diet was gaining more self-control. i know if i went to mcd's every day i wouldn't be able to resist the fries. or the mcflurries. or the nuggets..mmm... :lol
RockinMama 06-22-2008, 02:47 AM good for him, if i could only go there and resist a big mac for a salad, maybe i could lose some weight too LOL
Amberly 06-22-2008, 02:55 AM Haha well that puts my whole I gave up fast food thing years ago into prospective. I refuse to eat anything from a fast food place just because that seemed like the easiest thing to do. Instead of just avoiding the bad food. I avoid it altogether. The good thing about me doing that though is it helps the people around me because they never go to fast food places when I am around. So nobody is eating a Big Mac hehe.
kt*hed 06-22-2008, 02:59 PM Yay! Good for him :) I got so mad after the Super Size me movie came out because it was so one sided and then I had to right several papers in college courses backing up his point even though I didn't agree with it. My dad owns 4 McDonald's so I ate there just about everday growing up because it was free for us. I didn't ever really get sick of it because I would vary what I ate and would stop when I was full. Also, my brother and I were considered underweight for our age all the way through highschool. It all depends on quantity, quality and exercise. Good for this guy for proving people wrong :)
ily.mmw 06-22-2008, 07:31 PM well unlike the movie, he probably made better choices with what he ate. i mean a salad could be just as fattening with all the crispy chicken and heavy dressings. in the movie morgan spurlock ate just about everything greasy/fattening all the time. if you go light on the sauces and choose grilled over crispy chicken, forgo the croutons, extra cheese and go for a lighter salad dressing or less... then of course you'll lose weight. plus, portion control
Miss ♥ 06-22-2008, 07:52 PM that's awesome! the convience must have been great.
Holly M. 06-22-2008, 09:37 PM Thats why i love McD's lol
goldilockz 06-22-2008, 09:41 PM Doesn't matter the location if you're choosing the right food.
