Sirago has a case of diarrhea. Started yesterday and has continued into today. I really don't think he got into anything he shouldn't have, but I guess I could have missed it.

It hasn't been so bad that he has had any accidents in the house, and really he hasn't been going poop more times a day than normal, just when he has been going it has been really soft...borderline watery. He has been acting normal and eating and drinking like normal. :dunno

Any advice? Do you think he'll be fine to see how it goes until Monday (vet isn't open tomorrow, and DH has already gone to work today and won't be home til after midnight, so I have no car until then) and then on Monday if he still has it take him in to be seen?

If it is borderline runny with mostly soft stool, I'd just watch him. He might just have a little tummy ache from eating something he wasn't supposed to. Just make sure to watch him for any vomiting and if it starts to turn into real diarrhea. If it gets worse, it is always best to go into an emergency hospital on Sunday or even tonight just so he doesn't dehydrate. Otherwise it might turn back to being solid over night.

leave plenty of water for the pup.

also, if its not PUPPY PUPPY, feed it rice and chicken after a 12hr fast.
It makes sure the body is done pooping and then introduces wholesome foods.

I had to do that when my 1yr old dog started having the runs.

Just watch him to see if it gets worse or if he starts to act funny. My Lilah has such a sensitive stomache the littlest things give her the poops. Yesterday she ate a whole large compressed rawhide in one sitting, in less than an hour (those are the ones for strong chewers) and it gave her the runs.. but I know she's fine.

It could be his food, not all dog food is good for dogs. Keep an eye on him. If it's still like that Monday, take him to the vet.

Try white rice with chicken. That should do the trick but if it doesn't, you can always use baby imodium.

Yeah, he gets compressed rawhides. Sometimes he'll eat half of it and hide it (or lose it!) somewhere and then one day he'll just go around the house and find them all and eat them. So maybe that is what happened. Also our roommate buys crap treats for her dog, and sometimes gives them to sirago, so maybe she gave him more than he is used to. Besides the compressed rawhide I only give him treats that have no junk in them. And they usually are homemade. I didn't think about that.

He is on very good quality food (Innova) so I know that isn't the issue.

When my puppies at home had diarhea, the vet said to boil ground beef or chicken and mix it with white rice... plus they also think they are getting a treat!!!

Lilah USED to chew on it and then leave them around.. now she chews the whole damn large ones all up at once :lol She is also a big dog. Junk treats could definitely do it too!
