Hello everyone-
As you can see I am brand new to this board. My dh is leaving for the sandbox in 3 days. So far I have ben holding it together for the kids but I know I am going to lose it soon.
In 2004, he deployed to Cuba for a year. I think it was easier to take because the location was "safer" We have 3 more years till he can retire and we are praying that the National Guard isn't looking to deploy them again.
I just don't know how I am going to do it this time. I am so glad I found this site. It is hard to find support when you don't live near a base, people just don't understand how you feel.
Thanks for letting me ramble on. I hope all of your deployments are smooth and quick!

Welcome! The ladies on this board are a great support system. I don't think I would have made it this far without them. PM me anytime you need to talk!

I completely understand. DB was stationed in Fort Drum, which is five hours from where I live, Jersey. It's hard cause no one around here, family and friends, understand what it's like. So I've been left with pretending that everything is ok and that I'm doing just great! I mean I am doing ok but life isn't great, especially when you have a SO deployed in Iraq. That's why I love this site so much cause I can rant and rave and be happy with these girls cause they are the only ones who understand.

It will be so much easier once you are in the actual deployment. The anticipation is the worst. Once he leaves you will be able to get into your own routine and do what you have to do to stay sane. :hugs

I agree, it does get easier once you are in the actual deployment. The first few weeks may be hard, but that's what this board is for, everyone here is so strong and so willing to help you if you're ever having a rough day. Welcome! :hugs
