Ok so db recently posed a question for me and Im not really sure what to tell him. Right now he is currently deployed, because he was stoplossed for 10 months. When he gets back hes only gonna be a couple months left till he gets out. The issue is, he will be about 2 months shy of making it 6 yrs in service. Our plan has been he will not be re enlisting so that he can go back to school and get his degree. I have no problems with this. Now hes saying that he might extend his active service for an extra 2 months to make it 6 years. The only reason he is considering it is because of the possible new gi bill. My concerns are is it possible that by extending an extra two months, that somehow he will get pcsed somewhere else or enable the army to screw up our upcoming plans? Im really kinda of in the dark on procedures and things of that nature and I want to know any risks or possibilites of this decision. Db isnt set on anything yet and Im just trying to get as much info as possible so i can give him a good opinion. TIA

I think you and he shoudl do some research on the level of congressional support for that bill before you decide. My understanding is that Webb introduced it (I am assuming its Webb's bill that you are talking about free school after less years of service than current) My understanding is that it is not well supported by some. I know that McCain is not in support of the bill. I think the feeling is that is will not recruit as many people as Webb hope and that it will give further incentive for people to leave the already comprimised Army. Givene th up coming elections everyone on the hill is trying to build relationships so without McCains support it might get killed up there. The place is a shit show. I interned there for w semester. So, before he decides do some reading. Wouldn't hurt to call your representatives and pose the question to them. Ya know???
