how long do you think it takes for medication to start working? he's had 2 full days of medication, then one this morning (due for another pill tonight) and this is out of just a 7 days amount of medicine. and his neck is still oozing all over the place. it's so disgusting. i'm really hoping this is cleared up before his surgery.
then i wonder...well is it not healing cause it's not exposed to air and therefore not getting a chance to dry up? k, so i don't have anything covering it...but he's got a flappy neck, and all the ooze is building up in the flap....ugh!

I bet that's the problem.. the skin being loose and covering it. I wonder how you'd kep the skin back for a little bit... hmmm.

i haven't the slightest idea. maybe a clothes pin on the back of his neck? :rofl
actually, right now i've got a piece of a cotton shirt wrapped around his neck so it's still breathable. and every like, 2 minutes i run over to him and separate his neck flaps.

Maybe that'll help it. Poor guy.

What does the vet say? When my Daughter was bit by a dog, the doctor put a piece of sterile strip in the hole in her hand to prevent it from closing in order for it to drain properly and not cause an infection. The wound needed to heal from the inside out and after about a week, we were finally able to take the strip out (a fresh one was put in each day). Maybe the dog needs something like that so it can drain safely and not cause infection.

vet didn't really say anything but keep it clean. it's not like a whole in his neck. at least i can't find one particular spot that it's draining from. so there's really no place to put a strip like you're talking about.
i just got home from work and it's crusted over. so no more leaking now. i'm not really sure it it's a good thing, but it does look slightly better...

what did he do? anyway to use bandaging tape to keep the skin flap from smothering over it? did the vet give you anything topical to put on it? spritzing it with a topical antibiotic spray might be a good idea. give your vet a call back & let him know what's going on & ask what he suggests.
