View Full Version : good grief
Donna 06-23-2008, 02:31 PM So I got my assesment tests back. Did REALLY good on the reading/writing but I bombed the math. Which I knew was going to happen. Well, my advisor gave me some links to try and brush up a bit.
OMFG!!! Now I remember why I HATE math so much :banghead <---that is what I am literally doing:sigh
Jennygirl 06-23-2008, 04:09 PM You are going for nursing right?
I hope the brushing up works!
Katiej 06-23-2008, 04:11 PM I'm right there with you- math and I are not friends. Good luck!

I was, but after looking at all the licensing requirements, there is no way I will qualify unless I fork over big bucks for a lawyer. And then, it's still up to whatever state we are living in if they will accept it. :sadeyes
So I am doing computers.
=Mrs.AiNokeA= 06-23-2008, 05:10 PM Oh wow I'm sorry sweetie I HATE math with a passion. :no I was never good at math and usually it just stresses me out and I start crying. I couldn't even get far enough in math to get a Liberal Arts degree. :sigh :hugs :goodvibes
NewBeginnings 06-23-2008, 05:15 PM :hugehug I'm right there with you. I HATE HATE HATE Math.. Don't ask me for help because ummmm I'd be scratching my head right along with ya :lol
Brandi 06-23-2008, 05:16 PM It was the same way for me. Math was my weaker subject so I had to start with elementary algebra which didn't even count as a credit, but I had to take it to get to the college level algebra. It SUCKED and I tried taking that at the same time is other classes.... bad idea. I ended up having to drop the class b/c I wasn't doing well in it. So, just be careful with how much you decide to do when you take your math classes. I think it would be best to do your math class and maybe only one other one at the same time, otherwise the math can really get to you and screw up your other classes. I hate math. :sick
Gillian_Angela 06-23-2008, 05:19 PM I'm not a math major but I'm OKAY with it :lol.
I opted out of taking Calc at NC-State for Finite Mathematics. SO much easier.
:goodluck! I hope you get it soon :)
NewBeginnings 06-23-2008, 05:21 PM Honestly if I had to redo it all over again.. I'd take Math first and ONLY take Math so I could solely focus on that. Yeah I wouldn't get financial aid doing it that way but oh well.. its only one class..
Donna 06-23-2008, 05:32 PM I am trying to avoid the elem algebra. which is what i would get if I dont do better on the retest. my courses are only 8 weeks long and I am taking math first to get it out of the way. but it will only be that class, plus one more. so not too bad.
Rileysmom 06-23-2008, 05:58 PM You could take it at a local community college for cheap/free and you could do it now so that you are caught up before the school starts! Might save you money! SDCCD has math classes that are online, but they are flexible, so you have like 8 months to finish it, as long as you keep up on the work. If I end up needing more math, that's definitely going to be my option!

I had to take one algebra class before I could take college level math. It wasn't too bad. The final sucked, but it was my fault for not studying. I still passed with a B. I took my class online through city college.
JKirstiH 06-23-2008, 08:14 PM I hate math too:hugs
browneyedbeauty 06-23-2008, 08:17 PM Math is the :devil
I'm doing a diploma at my school which is the associate for my major without all the general education classes. So I can be bringing in some money while I resent the math. :D
:hugs
Math is my one stumbling block also. I really want to go back to school but on the entrance exam I bombed the math part.
So if I want to start the nursing bridge program I have to sign up for the algebra class.... :scared
But I worry cause :getit . I mean who wants to be the 45 y/o boobus in the math class :ohno
Waiting for dh to come home.....so he can help me study and be my support.
Good luck to you!
