We took Caleb to the DR today to talk about his medication. She ended up putting him on Vyvanse. Its a different medicine from Concerta. I so hope this medicine agrees with him.

USMCSGTsGirl1239 06-23-2008, 04:56 PM regarding his math difficulties have you thought about getting some Saxon math books and teaching him incrementally that way? It may not help him this time around out of his predicament, but it may help him overall get a better understanding for next year or the year after. :hugs Mommy2Bailey 06-23-2008, 04:59 PM regarding his math difficulties have you thought about getting some Saxon math books and teaching him incrementally that way? After a few hours he starts to understand some. He needs to learn that if he doesnt understand he should raise his hand in class and tell his teacher he doesnt get it. I am sure she is better equipped to teach him that I am. FTCWifey 06-23-2008, 05:01 PM I hope this medication works better for him Lissa. I had such an incredible problem with math throughout most of my educational life until about the 10th grade, it was horrible. Is it all of math that's screwing him up, or just lacking basic understanding? Or is it the way the teacher is teaching... maybe going too fast? (not you, you seem like you are doing everything possible to help him) I'm just saying if it's a teacher problem, and he is all ready causing "problems" or being looked down on by the rest of the class, then he may have a very hard time asking for help from her... it may make him feel worse. Does he have an IEP or anything? I had to tutor my nephew over part of the school year and summer, and he was so far behind it wasn't even funny. He's non-medicated with attention issues as well... the teacher had flat out given up on him, and called him stupid. I'm sure you will work something out. The only reason why I suggested those books, or Kumon is because they are incremental, so if he's got some deficits, you can target those, and build from there. Good Luck with everything. :hugs Mommy2Bailey 06-23-2008, 05:10 PM I had such an incredible problem with math throughout most of my educational life until about the 10th grade, it was horrible. Nothing seems to help. Summer school has been going for a week now. His new teacher says he just doesnt pay attention. He does not have an IEP. But I am going to ask for one next year. |
