well i had to take my baby ( Buster) to the vet today, he saw me collect up his favorite blankey, his dog bowls, and favorite toy, he got all excited. He didn't know where he just knew he was going. Well we got to the vet he started to freaking out, shakey, antsy. he got his bordetella because he is getting boarded this weekend because hubby and i are going to arkansas for a family reunion and unfortuately buster can't go. :(

well buster is also getting blood work done because he is 7 years old and has never been under the knife, oh yeah, he is getting nuetered to. so they want to make sure since he has never been under that he can handle it and of course to make sure he is still happy and healthy.

But my biggest concern with the nuetuering is buster has seizures so that puts him at a bigger risk then your average dog and also he has a lump on his testicles. the doc is going to do a biopsy if he feels it needs it after the bloodwork comes back.

i am so worried for my lil buddy.

Awww! I just want to go home and hug my furry baby now! I don't know what to tell you, because I don't have any experience with the seizures and all. I do hope that everything comes out well, and I will keep you and Buster in my prayers!!!!

Doing blood work before surgery is normal. Most vets do it just like people get it done. Getting him neutered is a great thing. It decline further complications when he is older. The fact that he is 7 and never had to be operated on is great! You are doing a wonderful job. If you are uncomfortable boarding him, look into pet sitter. They can be a tad more expensive but he will at least be in his own home. Working for a vet and pet sitting on the side, most are happier at home the in a kennel.

what about the seizures?.....i have been told by all the vets that i have taken buster to that since he doesn't have the seizures often enough putting him on meds for his seizure won't benefit him. He has been put on Phenobarbital before but he caused him to go into more seizures so the vet took him off the meds and told me that right now since he has maybe 1 seizure a month to every other month that meds won't do him any good. just keep an eye on him as he grows older and if they do get worse, we'll try again.
anyways, will the neurtering cause the seizures to go away or make them better or worse? Also, how risky is it to put him under the knife with him being epileptic? should i worry?

Boarding him, i'm not worried about, i have had to board him before with this vet and i absolutely love them. i am just scared that he may not wake up:(
he is my baby and i just want him to be ok and come home.

I have more questions but i can't think of them right now...

Thanks ladies
