Well, all 3 credit bureaus did some deleting and updating when I wrote to them to dispute!!! I will admit, a couple things I did owe on, but for whatever reason, they were deleted.

My TUC score went up 12 pts, EXP up 53 pts, and EQF up 34 pts! I am almost in the 600's! :woot I had very shitty credit before and have worked to make it better, so I'm happy...not to mention, when I got my reports back about the investigations, it shows when the deliquent (they are paid) accounts are supposed to be deleted and all are due either next year or 2010! :woot

Anyways-

With that, I do have a credit card that is being reported on 2 of my reports. It's one my parents took out for me when I was 16 to build credit. It's never defaulted, has a limit of $24K and is being reported with a $0 balance. Should I get it closed or leave it open? I wasn't sure if it was a good thing since it has a $0 balance but yet a high limit or if it was a bad thing since it was just another open account.

Input?

ETA: It is not being reported monthly. Just sitting there w/ a $0 balance

leave open... gives you available credit (good) and a long standing account

Did you read my updated part? I just wanted to make sure that that little info doesn't change your input.

That's strange... does it say "closed" on it or anything?

Nope, it's just been "sitting" there...I've noticed it years ago and it never reported anything. It just says open, $0 balance, the limit, pay status current, and when it was opened.

I'm thinking it could of been closed but b/c the company never reported anything new, so the bureaus just assume it's still open. :shrug

Maybe, that's so strange. If it's not doing any harm, I don't see a reason to close it. :puzz

Yeah, I've always wondered if I should get it closed or leave it open...I guess I will just leave it, lol.

That's great about your reports. It really does pay off to get all of that stuff straightened out!

As far as the open account, I would absolutely LEAVE IT OPEN! Even if it's not necessarily being reported. Could you call them up and maybe see about getting a new card so you can start putting a very minimal balance on it just to keep it as being reported. An account open that long with that high of a limit will be great for your credit report as long as you don't have a high balance on it :tu

I can't b/c it's an account my parents opened up, so their information is on there. They wouldn't be ok w/ me using the card, even if I asked! Their VERY :refuse when it comes to anything that could financially screw them...which is, of course, understandable!

I'll just leave it be though!

ETA: Although, I wonder if I can get their info taken off and just have my info so therefore I could use it? :thinking

I will call! Good idea Brandi

I have no idea...I assume so :shrug All I know is she gave me a credit card when I was 16 to use for gas w/ my name on it. So I assume she opened it w/ their info and me as a user or else them as my co-signers. I never asked her about it when I seen the card, years ago, b/c I remembered her giving me a card.
